Thanks man! Slowly getting there, still plenty to do! Waiting on the garage to pick up the car. Tyres have come and wanted them fitted today and tracked in. Next is belts/waterpump then gearbox and clutch! Expensive times ahead

Eagel F1 asymmetric 3's, they'll be going on the front then the current asymmetric 2's onto the rear. Yeah my brothers crunch in 3rd/4th too :') trying to find somewhere local to do it!

The tyres where about £70 each off blackcircles. Worth the money! And worcestershire mate

So finally got the car back today, Dash isn't lit up like a christmas tree anymore. The abs fault was due to the rear hub being corroded away and made the sensor rub against the back of the abs ring on the disk. New rear disc's and hub was needed. My bank balance was not happy!

Only issue is the other side is pretty bad too so that could be an issue later down the line!

So it's been a while... The time as come to move on from the R27, it will most likely be sold to my mate. Which means track days together which I'm super looking forward to. Especially in the car I've replaced it with.

So an unfortunate update, my Clio R27 which I sold to my mate, he wrote it off,hit a curb in other news I've already sold my Hawkeye, bought a mk7 gti which I'm already considering selling... Which means a new car, Im hopefully coming back to a Renault! I miss the French car community and their hot hatches. Any guesses as to what I'm getting in the near future?

Hi All, time to brush the dust off this thread! So to catch everyone up, I had a nimbus silver R27 which this build thread was originally about, I sold it to friend who wrote it off... I think it's been put back on the road by someone else, not sure if they are on here

I then had the Imported WRX STI which I had for a year, Still to this day I regret selling! After that I bought a Mk7 Golf GTI, Which was a "great" car, I just bought a lemon. After spending 1.4k on the timing chain for then a few months later having to replace the entire engine due to loss of compression it was time for that to go! So it was then onto a cheap run around, as deposit for a house was more important. I bought a Citroen C5 estate as a daily which to be fair has been reliable, just itching to get back into something I enjoy driving!



So what's next? Well my brother's Red Clio that's featured here, has been sat on my Parent's driveway for the last 3 years collecting mould as he bought a Mk3 Focus ST and left the Clio rotting. I've had it off him for cheap and the plan is to get it on the road and tidy it up.


First things first... the Mould, and a lot of it...















I blasted the car with mould killer, and scrubbed the hell out of everything! Then freshened it up with interior detailers and let it air out for several days. Least now it's not looking like the set of The Last of Us.

Up Next was to fix some of the issues, unfortunately before taking it off the road my brother did rear end someone, considering the bumper hardly has a mark on it, the crash bar says otherwise... So replaced that






Also gave the car a quick once over to get rid of all the tree fall/sap and anything that's been sat on the car for the last few years. Most annoying part was the infinite amount of crap coming out from the roof rails when hitting them with a pressure washer, so they came off for a proper clean!

It also had a fender bender in a parking lot, someone hit it and left without a note, so sourced a 2nd hand bumper. While doing that, also got a bonnet and wing mirrors as the lacquer peel was in a sorry state

Next on the list was the wiper blades and arms where rusty, and the wiper motor linkage was having a bath due to the blocked drains and seized up. On the plus side, more cleaning opportunities!















As the trims came off, C4 went on... Makes such a difference to old tired plastics, highly recommend it!

New wipers and gave the arms a lick of paint so they don't look as crusty











This was all done last year, now coming into 2026 I want to get the car actually on the road, to do this I need to get some major work done. So the main reason the car got dumped is due to the what I assume is the clutch slave cylinder, my brother explained that when driving for a while without changing gear, say on the motorway, it will then struggle to get into another gear. So the plan is to get the car sent off for the following:

Major service including all belts, pump, plugs, fluids
Gearbox rebuild as what 197 doesn't have a 3rd gear crunch... along with a new clutch and slave cylinder, possibly a lil upgrade too

I've also spent a pretty penny at Kam racing to overall all the brakes!

So more updates in the coming weeks/months when I can get the ball rolling and finally get this car back on the road! Once the mechanical side is spot on, roll on some shiny bits!

Yeah the mould was not a fun job! But the interior didn't come up too bad! It's in need of a steering wheel retrim, Will go back to Royal Steering wheels as I really like the one I had on my R27, New gear knob will be on the list too. Just need it on the road first and foremost!

The roof rails just pull up, but there's loads of plastic clips which will be brittle and you'll 100% break a couple. Enough survived to where I can't see the trim flying off, At least I hope. Might be worth seeing if you can get some replacements before tackling them

Just an update, everything has arrived to do the brakes. Just waiting for a dry weekend! Literally non stop rain...

Gone for GodSpeed J hook front and rears, paired with Mintex MRM1801 pads on the front with brembo pads on the rear. Also going to be putting on some Goodridge braided lines.

While I'm in there replacing the ABS brackets as they ruined the discs on my old R27. Also ordered new clips, pins, bolts and some tools to get the job done!









Since the gearbox is coming out shortly, Be rude not to slap in a Limited slip diff, you know, while you're in there!
