Addy's RB 200 Project

Nothing overly exciting to update today however, they're updates nonetheless!

I've just been slowly trying to do a few small bits here and there to tidy up the car a bit more, still a long way to go although every little helps.

Ever since I got the car the airbag has driven me insane. Somehow someone had marked the silver ring heavily and I cannot help but stare at it whenever I'm driving. Easy fix thankfully.

Airbag also came with a steering wheel so I'll get that retrimmed at some point. No rush though as my wheel is just about mint.

I've also stripped and repainted the alarm sensor bracket. I did want a replacement but I wanted the stainless steel version which had a different finish to the bracket but can't get in touch with who used to make them so this will do for now.

(I'll get around to detailing the engine bay once the summer weather is finally here!)

I've also started fitting some more parts for the satnav installation, nearly there now I just have a few more bits to do. I finished the loom for the microphone yesterday just have the main dash loom to complete and then everything is ready to plug in.

When fitting the aerial I probably over tightened it but the seal didn't seat fully flush to the roof like I feel like it should. It doesn't seem to be leaking but just annoying as it looks odd. Anyone else's sit like this?

This is how mine sits, I vaguely remember some washer on the underside that clawed into the roof, is that on the right way around? It was a long time ago though so I could be imagining it...

p.s. The little hoop on the bracket's supposed to go over the lip on the front panel isn't it?
It is but I've tried everything and can't get it to sit like that, it constantly slips off!

I was going to message you actually as I may need satnav help, AGAIN! If I can pick your brain :poke:

Also, this is the old aerial. I fit it the exact same way before. But yours definitely sits how I expected mine to haha.

Yeah mate just send me a PM if ya struggling, if you need my help again I'll do it in exchange for the akra :tearsofjoy:

As for the aerial I can't image what would be holding it off, at least its not leaking as a soggy headlining wouldn't be good

Bet ya would! :tearsofjoy: Fitting everything is fine as before just I'm not totally sure what wires you jumped from before and I'm putting the microphone in too this time haha.

I guess I'll just keep an eye on it and see if it does have any water ingress, I did test it and nothing was coming through. Fortunately I need a new headliner anyways if anything is to happen but I'd rather not pull it out just yet lol.

More satnav progess. How fun!

Managed to get some more done today, probably the worst of the jobs to be honest.

Also played around with the aerial base, no matter what I tried it wouldn't sit correctly and has been holding water around the base. Everything is straight so I'm really not sure what the issue is. In the end I just stuck some silicone on to seal it better. Not ideal but not visible and does the job.

New aerial loom is now fitted, along with the microphone loom. To my surprise the 200 loom actually has the microphone connectors even though it didn't have it optioned at factory!

Very nice.

I put a OEM bluetooth head unit in my 200 Cup. I have not got the microphone or the CBox, but I am tempted to do it so that when my phone is connected to the stereo I can answer calls on it.

I can't wait to get this fully installed for the Bluetooth alone, it drives me crazy in the car at the moment without it. I have got an adapter but messing around with it everytime I get in the car is frustrating.

When I fit the satnav last time I didn't fit the microphone for handsfree and drove me crazy. It's an essential these days haha. Shouldn't be too bad to fit into yours!

Cheap too, surprisingly! I did actually find some 'OEM look' pipe for it just yet to fit it. Trying to find some decent C3 washers to fit as the ones I ordered before were cheap and nasty.

Renault parts prices confuse me, the things you think will be cheap are expensive and vice versa.

Making the most of the long weekend.

Fitted a stud and nut kit ready for the new wheels. Although, did make a boo boo and did it at stupid o'clock on a school night and made a mistake. I mixed up with the bolts and put one long in the rear and short in the front. Sorted it now though

My wheels did turn up on Thursday, but one was damaged. Absolutely gutted as was hoping to get them on Tuesday. Hopefully I can sort something with them so I can get them on sooner rather than later.

Finally stopped being stingy and bought some new washer jets, got Peugeot ones. I think they're for other fitments too but better than the older version of the c3 ones I put on the last car. Pop in, twist and fit absolutely perfect. Also replaced my washer pipe with a nicer pipe which looks more OEM.

Managed to fit my upper engine mount today too, what a pain. The design for the powerflex bush on the revised design isn't very good imo as the position of everything is slightly out and made it alot harder to fit. It's on now though and is spot on, everyone said vibrations are unbearable but there isn't a huge increase tbh.

(you can see here it's slightly out, I had to force the position of the top of the Bush to fit correct, which caused it to not sit correctly in the recess of the engine mount as you'll see when fitted).
