Addy's RB 200 Project

Haven't done an update in a while so just topping up with some little things I've done recently!

Swapped out the original rusted bolts for some black 17mm ones. Prefer the size of these over the standard 19mm to be honest. It gives a lot more room when you're taking them on and off. Bolts courtesy of @lewishunter98

I managed to scoop some GT lights at an absolute bargain, they're essentially brand new even though sold as used, came in the original box too!

I got these fitted along with the harness to convert the OSF back to a fog light. I just need a different bulb as the ones I bought were terrible. Gave behind the lights a good clean too as it was minging.

I know there a marmite change and some people don't like them but personally much prefer them, each to their own!

Finally got around to purchasing a steering wheel insert, should've got one ages ago but I'm tight! (I'm a Yorkshire man after all).

Also finally replaced the god-awful rearview mirror which hadn't aged well, I can now look in the mirror and not cry every time I see the state of it!

I've got a fire extinguisher ready to go in (just mocked up for now, I accidentally rounded a seat runner bolt so sorting that out so I can get it on, oops).

I'm planning on some track days this year and it never hurts to be prepared for hopefully something that'll never happen. Better to be safe than sorry for what it cost!

And finally, I've got everything to complete my satnav install, just need to finish splicing down the dash loom and make a microphone loom and I'm ready to go! Just a nice day to have a proper crack at it.

Today's a good day!

NSF top mount replaced after I noticed it had split. Thankfully put an end to my knocking, couldn't be happier as it started to drive me up the wall!

Another alignment after getting this done and it's perfect once again. A different garage did the alignment than my usual when I changed the TREs and it never felt right so glad this was sorted again.

Also managed to get the bolt out of the seat runner and fit the fire extinguisher. Fits spot on, will add some more photos shortly. Much prefer this one (even if it doesn't look as good as the others such as the supreme motorsport etc) as it just allows enough room for the mat to sit underneath still.

Finally, the coolant was starting to get a bit low so we did a full flush and topped it back up. Quite a few bits ticked off for now!

How did you get around the fog light issue?
You can either rotate the pins on the plug or there's someone called Brad Brown on Facebook who's in the groups who sells a harness to do the same thing essentially without messing with the original harness. I just bought the harness from him to keep it OEM for the sake of £13

Following up from yesterday's update with some more images/info.

Tracking before and after once the topmount was fitted.

Fire extinguisher fitted, had to slightly alter the mounting point for the extinguisher to bolt on as it didn't sit perfectly center and I'm very anal lol.

New bolt for the seat runner after removing the rounded one. This must be an update design? I ordered the correct part number however these turned up instead. Either that or they got the wrong part which seems unlikely. The design is much better than the originals anyways so ordered some more to replace all of them.

This is the part number for anyone interested!

Been up to bits and bobs as usual, gotta keep busy somehow.

"new" to me wiper motor as mine has began to fail. Would've gone new but the price of them is obsurd. Fitted this at the weekend, replaced the rivets with nuts and bolts so now can remove easily if I wish to replace with another if the same fault occurs again. Wiper arm was seized on so had to buy a replacement and also changed the rubber screen washer too whilst I was there!

Threw some copper grease on there hopefully in aid of it not seizing this time! Also excuse the filth on the car, it's been non stop snow and raining so the car is absolutely disgusting! Shame on me

Some more goodies from RPD. Ordered some new mats in yellow to replace my worn white ones, also I prefer the yellow and at a fantastic price! Ordered additional seat runner bolts to replace all of them and glad I did so as all looked a bit worn/chewed. (Not my fault this time!). Additionally the dipstick was crappy... So replace with the updated design so I can now get my oil readings! Great, right?

Secondary lambda sensor looks like it has failed so I've got a replacement, going to replace that tomorrow and fingers crossed I can get rid of the emissions light.

I also had to give in and buy this the second it was released as I've been waiting on it for a while, can't wait to get it fitted on the 1st!

Following up on the lambda sensor issue, replaced it this morning. Hopefully it is that causing the issue. I managed to pick up a good nick one second hand for about 15 quid in hope that it fixes it, didn't fancy forking out just over 60 quid for that not to be issue, although I'm sure it is.

Old sensor removed.

Definetly the correct plug, I had a bit of a headache trying to find the correct part (I couldn't be bothered to remove it beforehand to check) so thanks to all on the forum as it helped my head scratching.

We've finally had some steady weather so had a chance to crack on with replacing the bumper support trim, not sure if I mentioned on this thread someone inserted self tappers through the top instead of using the plastic push clips and it's bugged the hell out of me since I got the car.

Anywhos I found a good condition replacement a while back and replaced the stickers so it's a million times better than what my current one is like.

Old panel off, worst job I've done yet. I hate trying to pop out the push tabs they're always so fragile and I would've cried if I broke them on this bumper. Luckily I got everything off intact.

Also gave under the badge a clean as it had to come off. Couldn't believe the amount of dirt trapped underneath!

I also have these two panels available for free if needed, obviously the old top bumper support has the small holes from the self tappers but if that doesn't bother you there's nothing else wrong with it. Happy to post for cost if needed.

Also is this rust/corrosion enough to warrant a claim with Renault? I don't have long left to put corrosion claims in so if I can get it replaced I'll be quids in.

To be honest that rad support actually looks fairly tidy mate. However, there's no harm in trying I suppose. Atleast if it does get done then it'll be sorted for a long time rather than waiting for that one too eventually go!

It was the first thing I checked out when I got the car and I was surprised of the condition granted the milage on it!

Underneath is pretty good with mild spots of corrosion it's just more so the right and left sides that aren't looking as good. Guess I'll give them an ask when I take it in for the spots on the bootlid.

Been busy, busy as usual. I've managed to start on some jobs and get some other bits done. Ran out of time to do everything I wanted but that's always the case unfortunately.

Ordered a new gear gaiter from Kolour Koncept to replace the standard as I wanted to retain the gaiter on the PMS shifter.

Lovely quality for the money and fit just as well as the OEM (as you'd expected). Nice easy job took just under an hour from removal and fitting back in. If you're looking for a new gaiter I'd highly recommend them. I went yellow to fit with everything else I have in the car.

With some spare time I managed to make a start on fitting some parts of the satnav installation. My hope was that if the screen manages to annoying me enough not working I might get my finger out and finished the rest!

Monday we managed to get the car on the ramp and get to work on fitting the PMS shifter, went fairly smoothly but it was a ballache to fit and took many adjustments to get it to a good setting, I'm fairly sure now after a bit more usage it could do with some more tweaking.

Unfortunately it wasn't a straight fit as it seemed from the instructions as some trims needed modifying to allow it fit fully with the centre console in place. The tower also fouls on the centre console bracket meaning that the trim clip split due to stress of being screwed in. Bit annoying as I didn't really want to cut my trims but beggars can't be choosers!

I also threw in a powerflex mount for the gearbox whilst we had everything off but completely forgot to grab a picture. Useless!

Happy with the fitment now and glad I went with the gaiter, looks great! (Minus the carbon pole, wish it was ally as I'm not really a carbon fan, I know, sorry?).

The height is perfect after having a bit more time with it, I wasn't in love with it at first and shifts are way more accurate. I think the heatshield is touching slightly in higher revs though causing some vibration, I'll have to get a proper look soon as I couldn't really be bothered to drop the exhaust again. I'll post a follow up review about the shifter later covering everything when I have more time as I want to run over it properly as not many people have so far.

Managed to give it a clean this weekend as the weather was lovely and it hasn't been touched in a while as I've either had no chance or it has been raining! It doesn't come up too bad to say it needs a lick of paint in a few spots.

Managed to find some perfect leds for the rear lights, I've been waiting ages for them to arrive. Perfect look to finish off the rear.

I've also been waiting to clean the car to get the new mats in to finish off the interior (for now). Look much better than the horrid white ones which were used and abused!
