197 purchase!!!

hi guys, after some advice if possible!

Looking at buying an 07 plate 197 this week with 48k on the clock, its fairly strong money. The only issue is its had 5 former keepers....would that put you off?

Thanks in advance

James

Yeah i agree without too much information that’s steep for a 197..

Decent 200 money that

Yeah it's becoming harder because most people have discovered they make good track cars. [emoji23]

Can see it has cup chassis, recaros?

It doesnt have the recaros just the standard seats!

I have a mate who works for renault so not massively worried about the mechanicals, just want one with nice bodywork and interior to be honest!

The garage also looks reputable but i guess you never know!

Anything to look out for when i view it?

Hmmm maybe a touch pricey then imo mate. Though it does look tidy

- Crunchy gearbox (I know all about that one)
- Ball joints/swivel joints, typically knocking over bumps and turning etc. Think it causes the wheel to pull you over cambered roads etc too
- Any knocking could also indicate drop links/anti rotation links/top mounts etc
- Steering rack knocking on lock to lock too!

They can be a real pain but they're so good when they're working properly! [emoji23]

Don't be afraid to rev it out, that way you'll really know whether the synchros are going in third and fourth

Ultimately it's up to you isn't it. I still think it's pricey personally.
My mate picked up his LY 200 for not much more With quite a few tasteful mods.
