Ross LY 200

Speedlines look great in black, but I had mint standard 200 wheels and got them stripped and powder coated gloss black with a hard wearing crystal lacquer top coat for £300.

I was happy to use the standard wheels, and really pleased with how they turned out and how they look.

Long as YOU love them it's all that matters bud. I just feel there's a better looking option in the 'standard' Renault range of wheels. Which is kinda what Ross likes i think. The OEM touch.....

I did the same with Speedlines BTW. Why the spoiler, diffuser, bumper etc etc etc are all gloss and the wheels were some obscure shade of 'matte' i'll never know.

Holy Smokes ! About time the 'Golden Bullet' had its own thread..... :sunglasses:

Hmmmmmm........and the deviance away from standard has begun i see. I agree with Black wheels on LY as above. Do it properly and get some Speedlines if you do though. Look immense on your car Ross.

And you're now gonna Track it as well ? Not sure if i've ever seen such a change of heart in one 'single' post.

Good on you pal ! If that floats your boat - do it......

Haha tracking it is a very long shot, and one which I’m not sure if I’ll have the heart for! It’s certainly not prepared to be pushed to the limits around one! I’m looking to hopefully keep the car long term, which if anything happened to it on track, or a stone chip here and would really annoy me!

I’ve admired your Speedlines in the past, when we was at Wells, they do look fantastic but on the other side I do like the standard silver wheels! I think they also look great, not every bodies cup of tea maybe, but the standard style I’ve been a fan of! The likelihood is I will refurb the set I’ve bought in silver, and swap them when I’m done with my car as a daily. I think with black wheels, maybe the silver touches on the car (door handles/bullets/badges) would require being black to really sleek the look up!

I’m still trying to keep them OEM touches, but when you look across other project threads you can’t help but think ‘that’d look great on my car!’ We’ll see where this heads!

you wont find any stones on track unless there are gravel pits which i havent come across yet.
tanking it on the road is no different and probably more stress for the car due to the awful road conditions these days... bare that in mind

Will there be any potholes on track? I take great enjoyment trying to avoid them all!

I can vouch for the recaros being the better, more comfier seat over standard. I recently sold my recaros and put standard seats in, ive done a couple of 6+ hour round trips in the recaros and had no back pain or discomfort. Ive just come back from farnborough to neath 2 hrs 30 one way and my back is killing me from the standard seats.

Get the recaros and you will not be disappointed

I have to admit they do look very nice! I’ll have to mull over this decision for a while I think!

If you're umming and aahing about the black, why not go anthracite for the full cup look? :sunglasses:

We bought ours knowing it had silver alloys fitted, and the mrs's first call was to get the wheels painted gloss black.
I think it transforms the look of the car.

I quite liked the silver tbh, and if I'd had my way, would have probably gone anthracite, but it's her car.
And we all know easiest and quietest life is to let mrs get her own way

Also did a 2 and half hour journey to and from Nottingham this weekend, and my back was aching for the last 15 of each journey!

It’s not financially the correct time to sourcing any, but something I will definitely look to invest in when I’ve done some saving! If added comfort comes with the good looks then I’m all for it!

@JMR I ask my dad when I visited him today which he preferred, and he said the black hands down! Glossy black, just like the ones in your pictures is the way I’d probably go! As Shuv said earlier, speedlines would be the dream, but having already sourced some standard alloys on the cheap, I should put them to use really!
