Albi R27 452/500 (UPDATE - 19.02.2017 - The end)

I've just had a read through your whole thread  you have a fantastic looking car, and your attention to detail is impressive :thumbup1:

Thanks very much Jimmy, I was always told "if a jobs worth doing, then its worth doing right" and its the finer details that makes a standard looking car stand out from the crowd.

lots of cool upgrades..like it a lot..keep up the good work..did u have ur calipers powder coated??

@ Pav - as for the calipers, i'm pretty sure the R27 comes standars with the red calipers.

Jmax, well done bro. your car always looks spotless! A fine example for the rest of us!!!
does the ITG help with power delivery at all?

and have you tried K&N flat panel (or similar)...
i'm keen to hear your views on this.

I run a K&N flat panel, and i'm well happy with it...
The climate here in SA doesnt seem to work well with 197 and induction in the engine bay... it's as if the standard CAF into a proper panel setup works best here, but i haven't run an induction setup, which is why i would like to hear your views.

thanks
peace

Iv got an itg maxogen intake running the normal pipe work retaining the battery and I find it runs spot on, defiantly more power on tap and the running temps by feeling by hand and the intake casing it's cold so must be working.

Not sure in SA though lol.

Enjoy the new filter mate!bet you like the new bit of grunt going on.

Thanks very much. Yea the sound is addictive, I can already see the mpg starting to drop :worried:

Thanks very much, and as shubz197 says, the R27 came with the red callipers as standard.

Thanks for the words of praise. To be honest I never really noticed any difference with the ITG panel filter, it maybe sounded a bit deeper, but that was really it. If your running a K&N and are happy with it, you should stick with it. As for changing to an induction setup like the ITG Maxogen, or the K-Tec system like mine, I'm not sure how they would work with the warm climate of South Africa. Yes In theory because the air is moving, it should be colder, but its a lot warmer air to start with. Although in saying that it was 25degrees here yesterday and it wasn't a problem in the car.

Thanks. that clears it up.
I'm sure it sounds a whole lot better than the panel setup!
and it's similar to a "short ram" system, so it's got to work.

but i have faith in the OEM intake, as much as i would like that "induction" sound.

Update 26.06.2014

So it seems the finding things to spend my money on never ends. Spotted this on eBay, and at £10 it would have been rude not too.

While washing the car at the weekend I noticed the wipers have seen better days. So i placed an order on mister-auto.co.uk, cheapest I could find with the added bonus of free delivery and in under 24 hours the new wipers arrived at my door.

Update 30.06.2014

Over the weekend when cleaning the car I thought it was the best time to change the wipers.

528.jpg

As you can see the old blades had definitely seen better days

529.jpg

New wipers fitted and good to go

530.jpg

And the result of the mornings cleaning.

531.jpg

One of my next cleaning projects will definitely have to be the seatbelts, as their a bit of a health hazard lol.

532.jpg

This morning saw me finally taking a trip down to Ai Autosport to get my decat fitted.

Restriction removed J

Decat fitted

First impressions are, it actually seems to have cut down some of the noise made by the induction kit. Maybe its all in my head, so I’ll keep you all up to speed with my opinion over the coming weeks when I get a good drive in the car.

When I arrived home from having my decat fitted, I was greeted by this parcel which had arrived in the post from @Renault Wolverhampton.

All will be revealed tomorrow when I hopefully get it fitted

As always your comments are greatly appreciated.

The car is looking great as always John  I'm interested to hear your opinions on the exhaust once you've had some time with it.

Update 01.07.2014

Yesterday this parcel arrived from @Renault Wolverhampton.

538.jpg

It was just like Christmas lol.

539.jpg

A replacement seat base.

540.jpg

I would just like to thank Adam and Dave @Renault Wolverhampton for their help in getting the order to me as soon as possible. First class service guys.

541.jpg

As you can see the one in my car has seen slightly better days.

542.jpg

543.jpg

Just checking to see where the clips under the seat were.

544.JPG

545.JPG

546.jpg

Seat base now removed.

547.jpg

When I had the base out I thought it would be stupid not to give the frame a wee clean up. I did resist the urge to polish it though lol.

548.jpg

549.jpg

Old and new.

550.jpg

New seat base now fitted. It was a bit awkward trying to get the rear bolts back in, but I eventually got there in the end.

551.jpg

I’m just going to have to be extra careful when getting in and outta the car now as I don’t ever want to have to buy another base.

I’m really looking forward to my next update now

Comments welcome as always guys.
