Sean's 197T - RIP Albi :(

Would be interesting to know what our Spa resident young Kevin gets lap time wise in his hairdryer

i had another look at that first video and although it's a ... ermm ... untidy lap (trying to be polite here), it's still timed at 3.07. that's about three seconds quicker than what i could manage yesterday. and it looks so effortless. so different to all the racket that goes on in a NA clio.

Bejaysus! I've never analysed someone's lap like that! I just enjoy the vid for what it is!

Would like to know how your 220t times against a 197. Must be quicker Kev?

i think a 220T will benefit from better torque and a few more horses up the hill and the kemmel straight and then after the twisty middle part, back to blanchimont and the bus stop chicane. and from the EDC of course. no denying that box is much quicker than a manual around a track.

I think that's what's called 'damning with faint praise' LOL Like I said, first time there (first track day in fact) with 50% brakes and sky-high inlet temps, I'm more than happy! I was there for the experience more than lap times! At least I've got a mark to beat next time though lol

@///M could you do me a few 'shops please?

This one as my avatar:

And could you put red calipers and the door bullets the same colour as the wheels please on these:

I've not ever been bothered about times just go quick in the fun bits plus down on bhp compared to the Scottish driving God and my Celtic brother @Sean197

Great write up. My concern with Spa is that it's too big for the Clio and not technical enough, so you end up being a mobile chicane for the big power boys. The traffic looks light on your vids though, a good watch.

Spa must be unreal in something with aero.

It wasn't actually too bad, in all honesty you let most of the stuff by on the Kemmel Straight and end up catching them back up through Sector 2, then let them by again before Blanchimont and leading up to the Bus Stop. There were a few proper race cars there - a few radicals and a 996 ex cup-racer, and they were in a league of their own, but you'd be surprised at how capable the Clio is there. The Clio wasn't the slowest car there, not by a long shot (not just mine but there were at least 3 n/a 200's there and they coped fine.)

Sweet yeah, I'd assume they'd be a laugh around there since Renaultsport offer trackdays there.

To be honest, the Ring is the same! You spend quarter of your lap dodging Schirmer e92s!

I agree, there's plenty of places to let faster traffic through & in the twisty bits the Clio more than holds it's own.

There was a twunt in a purple e92 who I had half a mind to punt off in Sector 2 as I was up his arse and he refused to pull over and let me through, then of course he'd pull away on the run to Blanchimont and think his car was 'faster'. I think me and 2 others reported him. Suppose you'll get that at any track though.

Yeagh, I didn't enjoy the 'ring. Spent my time keeping out of the way of very fast 911s & Corvettes. Great atmosphere to the place though.
