That's the gearbox from a non renaultsport 2.0L but it might have been put onto a renaultsport bell housing I thought the gearbox looked more oily than the engine.

Yeah there is mention of a recon box in the service history,bit more head scratching ahead

Getting brakes functioning and corrosion areas in check are some other jobs to keep me busy also

There is a place here that have broken a lot of 197 Clio's and are not expensive for most things but they have a 003 box low ratios most racers want but you would have the bell housing to sort it.

I don't believe it first time I've seen anything 197 for sale in Ireland but Traynors in the MOY have a 197 003 gearbox for sale I've just seen it on Ebay

Cheers man,I might give them a shout next week. In mean time here's what £900 of Renault Transmission parts looks like

Here's a different way of removing the old bottom ball joints from the wishbone,tack a piece of tube and use a pipe wrench with minimal effort

Have a lot of pieces dismantled and off for powder coating so in the next few weeks hopefully get them back
