So, Mrs M’s R27.
I was tasked with finding my wife a “Clio R27 in Racing Blue”, which was helpful as spec was pretty much a given, but not helpful in respect of there only being 34 of them to find one from. It took a while, and there were a few let downs along the way, but it all came good in the end.
When she got the car, we all know the story, she was adamant that it was staying absolutely standard. That was about a year ago. There have at least been a couple of little upgrades to talk of since, so I figured it was worth starting a thread and keeping track of our time with No 312.
Oh, thread title explanation. “He” (yes, female owned car, I’ve had to get used to it) was purchased in Ipswich. On the way back we drove past Ipswich football ground and on the side in HUGE letters it says “Home of the Tractor Boys” which she found absolutely hilarious. Because they play in blue, she took to calling him Tractor Boy. Much to my dismay, it’s stuck. I’ve given up, he’s Tractor Boy and that’s that.
Anyway, I’m going to just throw a few posts at this thread over the next few days (when I can be bothered sorting the photos out!) and bring it up to date.
The car was a private sale so the very first thing we did was get a proper inspection. Our nearest specialist was Mark Fish Motorsport, so off we went and Mark went through the car with a fine tooth comb and even pulled the scuttle panel off and sorted the drainage issue out. It wasn’t bad at all to be fair. Absolutely glowing reports Mark so we came away with plenty of confidence in our new purchase.
No pics of this happening but Mark’s workshop always looks cool.
So a few months forward and we decided the headlights were pants. So a set of projectors were ordered. Plus they look a load better and take focus away from the epic size of the headlights.

Oh and while on our way to Belgium, we made a friend:
That’s all for now. More to come, but don’t expect much, it’s going to be very slow and steady progress.
