Tractor Boy

So, Mrs M’s R27.

I was tasked with finding my wife a “Clio R27 in Racing Blue”, which was helpful as spec was pretty much a given, but not helpful in respect of there only being 34 of them to find one from. It took a while, and there were a few let downs along the way, but it all came good in the end.

When she got the car, we all know the story, she was adamant that it was staying absolutely standard. That was about a year ago. There have at least been a couple of little upgrades to talk of since, so I figured it was worth starting a thread and keeping track of our time with No 312.

Oh, thread title explanation. “He” (yes, female owned car, I’ve had to get used to it) was purchased in Ipswich. On the way back we drove past Ipswich football ground and on the side in HUGE letters it says “Home of the Tractor Boys” which she found absolutely hilarious. Because they play in blue, she took to calling him Tractor Boy. Much to my dismay, it’s stuck. I’ve given up, he’s Tractor Boy and that’s that.

Anyway, I’m going to just throw a few posts at this thread over the next few days (when I can be bothered sorting the photos out!) and bring it up to date.

The car was a private sale so the very first thing we did was get a proper inspection. Our nearest specialist was Mark Fish Motorsport, so off we went and Mark went through the car with a fine tooth comb and even pulled the scuttle panel off and sorted the drainage issue out. It wasn’t bad at all to be fair. Absolutely glowing reports Mark so we came away with plenty of confidence in our new purchase.

No pics of this happening but Mark’s workshop always looks cool.

So a few months forward and we decided the headlights were pants. So a set of projectors were ordered. Plus they look a load better and take focus away from the epic size of the headlights.

Oh and while on our way to Belgium, we made a friend:

That’s all for now. More to come, but don’t expect much, it’s going to be very slow and steady progress.

excellent stuff! it was about time you started a progress thread mate. Car looks quality and can't wait to see the updates in the flesh. Now, get that front grille sorted!!

About time Mes!!

You've had your say on most of our cars... Now it's our turn on yours:grinning:

I'm fairly confident from those first few snaps that you have a stunning example mate

Looking forward to seeing some more. (And some new wheels maybe??)

Cheers Ben. We like it!

And yep, wheels are on the way. I'll catch up very shortly.

Excuse me! It's Rumplestiltskin actually. Or Spartacus to my friends.

It's Paul. Mes was my graffiti tag and it stuck. Even my old man calls me Mes.

Ok, there is a reason why I asked - saw a Paulo on Facebook enquiring about a certain exhaust and wondered if it was you I was up against :tongueout:

Oh you're after it? Didn't read anything just posted my interest. But if you're going for it, (well, providing you got in before me!!!) I'll back out.

Jake is a bloody nightmare to get info from mate. Best of luck on that one. Best hassle him directly mate! Good luck!

And yeah, we'll definitely have one on the car at some point, but will probably end up buying new. :worried:

Yeah I know, I was messaging him on Sunday and it's just gone a bit quiet. TBH I'm no longer after it as I can't be arsed with all the hassle of spending more time and money on ANOTHER exhaust that I don't know how loud it will be. GF will NOT be keen at all with me getting another fitted!

Anyway, back on topic, lovely F1 you have there boss! Look forward to meeting you on 2nd April.

glad you had decided to start your own progress thread..the car looks great..also im happy that you've managed to persuade your dear half to start modding it a bit..
looking forward to some more updates..

Akra is definitely the way to go mate. It's really well behaved when not giving it full beans. Certainly not something that should upset the Mrs.

That said, you should be able to have a ride in a car with one fitted on the 2nd. Which should be a cracking day out.

And thanks for the kind words mate.

Thanks Pav. Not so much persuading mate, once her mind is made up, that's that. Thankfully, she's decided she wants to have a few gentle upgrades done, but it's definitely only going to be a light touch.

Cracking colour Paul my favourite

Cheers Kev mate! Definitely my favourite too. Although they look great in any colour.

Thanks mate.

When we were looking she was certain she wanted one without the full sticker pack, so just the front and back bumper ones and not the wings and roof.

Once we got it, she was even fairly sure that she was going to have to roof stickers taken off. But now we both love them and wouldn't even think about removing them.
