Trackspec Clio 197

Spent a good chunk of my Sunday evening reading your thread mate. Loved every second of it. Well done and fair play. Would love to have seen you sell some of the stuff on your site.

Well it’s been a good while since I’ve updated anything on this thread. There is not much to update on the car except that I've installed a battery cut off switch and have an extinguisher system to go in.

I’m booked in on a Donington Park session on Saturday the 2nd so if anyone is around come over for a chat. This however could be the last outing with the car.

I’ve mentioned previously that I’ve been looking for the next thing... and well I’ve finally got hold of something I’ve wanted since I was a small boy, a MK2 Escort. Im thrilled to have finally bought one and will be picking it up on the 16th so I will update this thread with a photo.

The car is originally from Belgium and is LHD so will need converting to RHD but the result of buying a foreign car means it is entirely free of rot and unwelded from new. I’d like to put a bit of money into the car ultimately building either a GRP4 modern spec or historic spec, I’m undecided which route to go down at the moment.

This means I’ll likely part ways with the Clio over the next few months. If anyone knows anyone looking for a top spec professionally built car send them my way.

Besides that I’ll post some updates from Donny after the weekend.

Shame to see the beast go but new purchase sounds very promising, can't wait for updates! Someone is going to buy a very nice car indeed.

Matt, can you please tell me what length are your studs and what offset is your wheel? I need to buy a set but I don't want them to extrude from the inside of the wheel so a bit unsure of the length.

Sad news about the car likely to be going but I think it's all something we get to the point of doing in the end. Will be shame to see this build end but I'm sure we would all like to see the progress on the Escort!

Think they were 80mm M14 x 1.5 off eBay mate. The offset was ET50.

Did you just keep this part of the radiator support and get rid of the side bits?

Yes cut the sides off mate. You don’t need them. Just excess weight. Cup cars removed them too.

Onwards and upwards with the new project Matt. Cracking car you’ve built and can only hope the Escort will be the same. Good luck
