The alcohol thread

Missed this post. Which is a shame, as its bloody brilliant.

Pete, you really shout step your beer game up though. A man of taste shouldn't be sinking cheap macro lager!

Im trying my best. I've come a long way since the exclusive vodka redbull days of my teens. Ive been trying a lot of craft beer lately but i'm either left feeling like i just ate the mrs floral hand soap bar or wondering if its made from fermented heinz baked beans.

All about the exploration Pete! As with anything, when something becomes popular, there are always a lot of imitators and a lot of them are below standard.

Also, it's important at the beginning to concentrate on finding a style you like. There are around 80 different styles of beer and they vary in flavour profile a LOT. Once you find a style you like it becomes a lot easier to find the beers you like, and to spot the ones you don't.

HK has a few VERY good craftbeer bars, here are the best four:

https://www.ratebeer.com/p/Craftissimo-TST-/37272/

https://www.ratebeer.com/p/The-Globe/11493/

https://www.ratebeer.com/p/The-Ale-Project/50431/

Guarantee there will be something you really like in all of these places, it's just a case of finding them!

Have fun!

I’ve tried a few of the posh JD. They’ve all been well tasty.

Tried any other bourbon?

Fly the cider flag 110%. Personal favourite is Stowford Press but I'll drink anything cider related..

Although I have gained a taste for Belgian beer since my two Belgian trips in April. Belgian Stella is beautiful.

I do also enjoy a cheap French beer called Perlembourg. Very smooth and easy to drink.

Never been a spirits guy really, however I am partial to the occasional Vodka & Lemonade or Jagerbomb....:drunk:

^^Only Jim Beam tbh mate I do like it but prefer Jack

I've been working my way through their range looking for something special for the taste buds

Here are a few more that I have acquired for sampling, its becoming an expensive habit

Tidy line up mate!

The Rye is my favourite. But I just love a good Rye full stop.

Much prefer JD over Jim Beam for certain. Pappy Van Winkle is the daddy though. Expensive but worth every penny. Very hard to come by sadly, it's a specialist whisky shop deal.

Quite the penny you've spent there Sean, could get you some nice bits for the Clio! Good to see you have your priorities well balanced!

LOVE cider. But real cider that is actually made from apples. Not the concentrate chemical rubbish they sell in most pubs. Cider should be flat, cloudy, 8% and get you drunk in a way that makes you feel like you been on happy pills!

Most people on here have collections like this, but their bottles say Auto Finesse and the like, you're on the next level!

gotta start drinking a bit more then or buying more cleaning products..which is cheaper??

YES!!

PROPER cider. In that case, got one for you to try if you can find it. Draught only I think. Thatcher’s Cheddar Valley. It’s practically red in colour and you can’t see through it. My word it’s brilliant. Would be a cheap night!!

I’ll get a photo of it when I’m next in the pub.

I'm partial to most cider, but my favorite so far has been Biddendens Strong Kentish Cider 8.4%. Not cloudy, but almost just tastes like apple juice. Place down my way gets in a small supply now and then.

mmmm, getting thirsty.

Cheddar Valley! That stuff is lethal, looks like red diesel in a glass. I can't remember some brilliant nights drinking that stuff!
