Spirit Blue Fiesta ST

Pics at last.

Nearly 3 years ago Emma and I done a highlands roadtrip in the old Clio 200 and wanted to do something similar in the Fiesta. So last weekend Emma’s mum was free to watch the wee man Friday and Saturday night so a quick Google maps research of our old route and a couple of phone calls to book the hotels and the planning was done.

The route:

Day 1: Cumbernauld to Invergarry via Lochearnhead, Crainlarich, Clifton, Connel, Lettermore, Fort William & Spean Bridge

Some more pics will be added later, as well as some vids.

The only issue I could foresee with that is that the roads will be a gazillion times busier with forge in caravans etc etc.

A slow ascent of the Applecross road (Though as fast as you'd want to go really):

Very nice car, these cars are amazing for 1.6'.

My mate has one on a 63 reg, hammered it since brand new September. He got the Mountune kit just after he picked it up, its soooo fast, ran 207bhp after the kit on the dyno but drives like something with 250+ its crazy. He's just fitted a cat back to it, can't remember which one and the difference in performance is mental, so noticeable.

Think he's getting the stage 2 or 3 kit for it next of which he's expecting around 230bhp I think he said.

I go through phases were I want an exhaust then I talk myself out of it.

If the next Mountune package (Which should include a cat back of some sort) retains the car warranty (50/50 split as to whether it will or not at the mo) then I may go for that. If not, I'll keep the car as is power wise.

On the big brake kit front. It turns out one needs 15mm spacers on the front to fit the callipers behind the standard wheels. Obviously you wouldn't just spacer the front you'd have to get the rears also as it'd look stupid. The price of the spacers is pretty high so I was considering spending a little more and getting a wider offset wheel which would allow the new callipers to fit without clearance issues.

The problem I have is that I really like the standard wheels. I like Comp MO5s, Speedline 5-Spokes or TD Pro Race 3s as replacements as they are not to dissimilar from standard. I'm swaying towards the Pro Race 3s as they are quite cheap. See the ST below for them on a car. Though picture it in Spirit Blue, not lowered, in black and not with the silly stickers:

As I like the standard wheels so much I'm gonna go down the spacers plus big brake kit route.

March wage is yearly bonus wage so might be able to order as soon as payday.

Really looking forward to getting them on. Yes, I haven't truly tested the standard brake setup to its max, however as I've said before, braking is my weak point when driving on track. Having this setup will go some way to help.
