update for people who might want to know
and a quick one : how come is our compression ratios are 11.5 ,its higher then the 172 (11.0 iirc)
i always thought our is lower
and from that i could understand why renault confirmed that the 197/200 can run 95 octane and 98 octane(unlike the 172 where they required only 98)
any1:blush:?

most likely down to mapping and better ecu control not to mention 197 has variable vvt whereas the 172/182 doesnt

the 172 arent vvt and double over head camshaft engines?
and yeah i know its mostly down to mapping (As i said turbo cars/especially mapped ones)but i thought high compression ratio engines also mean high octane too .
maybe its the dry rule but in this modern days map can get over it.
but basically im correct?high compression ratio engines =higher octane?(no/yes/yes but not mustly in these modern days..)

172 16v dohc and does have vvt....

yes = h/comp = higher octane fuel to take advantage of it ie more advanced timing to make more torque

h/comp=?
you said before ''whereas the 172/182 doesnt'' ,what did you mean then?they do have dohc/vvt like 197 or not :X

ah see!

172/182 has vvt but it only works around 5500rpm...the 197/200 uses continuosly vvt which it can be used over the entire engine range and not just at a fixed point :excited:
