Been a while since been on here, but in the meantime the Clio was SORN'ed just after xmas :worried:

Going self employed means i need my own van, so paying tax/insurance goes to the van first!!

Was gutted to say the least, everyone has told me to sell it but i know once the business is on its feet i can again afford to run her again so selling was a big NO. Hate seeing just parked at the bottom of the drive lol

Anyway gives me chance to do some modding :thumbup:
 
Shame but at least you haven't had to get rid of her... That would have been bad. You will love driving her again soon!!

Mine has been off the road since October and will not be back on for another 6 months.

Kills me to walk past her every day.
 
Our 182 is SORN and locked away in the garage at the mo, with us having the KA its just not needed. Come June when the KA goes though it shal be back on the road, I've already started detailing the old girl in preperation :smile:

It is frustrating just seeing it there, luckily I work away during week so I can't drive it anyway

When she's back on the road she'll be treat to a few track days :smile:
 
I assume you've taken precautions to store her properly? Covered? On axle stands? Or pumped some extra psi into the tyres?
 
How did you get on with sorning (is that a real word? ;/) your clio?

Just about to do my track day alfa but belive it needs to be insured still.

Dont get me started on that I had a right game. It turned out my insurance wouldnt cover a SORN'd vehicle so the policy had to be cancelled. A specialist insurer wanted £150 for the year which I think is rediculous for a garaged vehicle. So instead I've made it very, very difficult to steal :wink:

Not half as frustrating as seeing other Clios on the rod and not having one. She'll be back on the road soon.:bounce:
 
I had to do exactly the same with my cup. Had it sorned for about 4 months whilst starting up a business, 1st pay cheque went on insurance and tax for it! The break from it actually did me good as I was getting a little frustrated with its poor mpg from a not overly fast car.

But after driving utter rubbish for the past 4 months the car feels insanely light and fast again like when I first bought it! I'm back in love with it :smile:
 
Im currnetly driving a Ford tranny Connect only 75bhp lol cant wait to get bat to 3 figures!

With SORNing it i just did it online then sent off a tax return for the remaining months.

Aye ive added extra psi to the tyres, parked it in a position that it would be very difficult to get out, and it has no calipers front or rear :smiley:

Its not only insured against getting stolen don't forget. You never know what might happen but being stolen is only a small part of insuring a car. At the end of the day £150 is nothing compared to the price of the car.

True, but all it really needs insuring for is fire. With it being locked away in the garage, and all the other steps I've taken there's no way anyones stealing it, or setting it on fire for that matter. So all I really need cover for is incase the house sets on fire and takes the car with it.

I just feel that for what I get full cover for £150 is a bit of a rip off.
