Had a great day here with good weather. I've never been to a track day like it, with lots of professional race teams complete with double decker articulated race transporters. There was an amazing mix of cars from humble road going cars to outright racers. Also dozens of racing C1s practicing for a 24 hour endurance race. Classic cars like included a Mustang, a Lotus Cortina, Riley Elf, Ferrari & plenty of air cooled 911s.
I stayed on my PS4 tyres until late morning as it was cool & damp on track. I then changed the wheels to try my recently acquired Toyo R888R s. I've never used a semi slick before & even through the first 3 bends the difference from road tyres is incredible. All in all a great day. The drive home to Inverness was horrible though. Sat Nav said 7 hours (plus breaks) but an accident on the M6 kept me stationary for 1hr 45 mins or so & having left Northampton at 10.40 am I arrived home at 11pm. Just as well I like long distance driving. I used to drive from Inverness to London & back every 4-6 weekends & never took more than 9 hours. Enough waffle, here's some pics from Open Track taken by Robert Baxter photography. There's probably a few of my phone shots in there too which should be easy to spot compared to the professional pics!
