Had a great day here with good weather. I've never been to a track day like it, with lots of professional race teams complete with double decker articulated race transporters. There was an amazing mix of cars from humble road going cars to outright racers. Also dozens of racing C1s practicing for a 24 hour endurance race. Classic cars like included a Mustang, a Lotus Cortina, Riley Elf, Ferrari & plenty of air cooled 911s.
I stayed on my PS4 tyres until late morning as it was cool & damp on track. I then changed the wheels to try my recently acquired Toyo R888R s. I've never used a semi slick before & even through the first 3 bends the difference from road tyres is incredible. All in all a great day. The drive home to Inverness was horrible though. Sat Nav said 7 hours (plus breaks) but an accident on the M6 kept me stationary for 1hr 45 mins or so & having left Northampton at 10.40 am I arrived home at 11pm. Just as well I like long distance driving. I used to drive from Inverness to London & back every 4-6 weekends & never took more than 9 hours. Enough waffle, here's some pics from Open Track taken by Robert Baxter photography. There's probably a few of my phone shots in there too which should be easy to spot compared to the professional pics!

It's good but I prefer Spa as Silverstone is flat. Sometimes I found it hard to tell which way the track was going. There was one bend I just couldn't get the hang of. Kept trying different lines but never seemed to suss it. I'd have taken advantage of the free tuition included by Open Track but I had my mate along for a passenger ride as he can't drive his Clio just now because of problems with his left foot. Luckily his daily driver is an automatic X5.

Looks an awesome day John and the Clio looks as fab as ever. Love the very first picture !!

How did the car (And driver ? :sunglasses: ) hold up in such esteemed company ?

Love the photos John. Clio looks very purposeful on track with the decals and red wheels!

After we where at Spa in the Megane I bought a set of wheels with R888 on, night and day difference over the AD08r which I had on at Spa/Nurburgring! I’m sure the R888r are a step up again!

Hopefully catch up soon!

Thanks Shuv. The car was superb, the driver slightly less so! There were a couple of bends that I just couldn't seem to get right, but I had a great day. I can also genuinely say that I have overtaken a Ferarri in my Clio! Okay, it was a 45 year old Ferarri, but a Ferarri none the less.:thumb:
