Belts at 6 years/72k

So mine is a 2008 197 touching nearly 54k on the clock.

Guessing mine is due the big one soon?

The booklet with my 197 Cup (registered Dec 07) shows the cambelt change as 6 years/72k.

I'll check mine, as I'm 57plate car registered in '08. So if the cut off is '08 I'm on it, Renault say that on their system I'm 6yr (as per OP).

The interesting thing is when you ring Renault, they say 6 years regardless of what year it is. Trying to find out when it changed, and what happened.

you'd still be well advised to do it earlier. As I said previously, mine was making a terrible racket and the idlers had hairline cracks in them. It's plastic and rubber, why take a chance?

Why? If it says 6 years, then it should last 6 years. That's not taking a chance. If it was left to chance, why not change it every 4 years, just to be safe? Or 3 years?
Obviously if it showing signs of wear before its due, then have it changed, same goes for any part.

To change such an expensive part earlier than needed, 'just to be sure' is a bit odd.
