removing gear box

Just a quick question do you need to remove the front subframe to remove the gearbox out my 197 as i tjink i need a new slave as my clutch is heavy so ill replace the slave and the clutch

I think there are two parts to the subframe, both of which require removing.

i didnt remove my subframe when taking out the gearbox, I just loosen it allowing it to drop a little, but then I moved my radiator etc to get the room to get the gearbox out?
