Re-Map best places to go...

What about jamsport?

We had a guy at the RR day with a Jamsport Focus RS which dyno'd at 420bhp at Jamsport. Dyno'd at 350bhp on Saturday.

Moral of the story. Everyone will fiddle their numbers to make them appear awesomer

I heard TDFs rollers were reading about 15bhp higher than ktecs? on a 182 that had had a few tweeks, Pauls dyno at RST was calibrated against a 600bhp output and came in very close to the 600bhp score, his read very similar to ktecs dyno dynamics, I would have thought that having something that is known to read low but they can then show a decent gain without dyno 'tweaking' are going to be good at what they do. The problems usually occur when it's possible for the dyno user to tweak ambient operating parameters eg sea level, external temperature and barometric pressure

TDF are very well regarded as non bull****ters, if you want honest advice and no over egged figures then take it to matt, if you want the wool pulled over your eyes by so called tuning companies that fake the results to make you feel good then go for it! I know which type of service I'd rather receive.

And I'm also pretty pretty sure if your not happy with the results then matt will put the car back to standard and give you a refund!

So true. I don't know matt on any other level other than a paying customer but he absolutely knows his stuff.

The results he gets are a combination of great machinery and a great mind.

I think the only way from what ive seen to get more than 5bhp peak from a remap with mods or without is if the cars are very low figures as standard the closer you are to what its suppose to be standard the more chance it will be about 5bhp peak gains

when our 182 was standard I had it on both RS tuning's roller and TDF's, one said 177.1bhp the other said 177bhp, so pretty close to each other

My car went in with 192 came out as 200 with an exhaust and map. I've checked the exhaust and it is pasted up and does look like it's been fitted well. And I did watch them drive the car out and if they did put there foot down then I'm not surprised... Can run a car on rollers to check the work is good but best is a road test. I've had no issues with them and if the figures are optimistic I don't mind as i'm not chasing them I just wanted it mapped.

They do come quite highly rated in the vw/Audi world.

A definate Nono! I bet your dyno print out is very optimistic! They have been giving out readings well above what people have been expected to achieve. A standard 182 come out at 177bhp and after a remap and milltek exhaust he then got 192bhp. My mate took his fiesta st there for a full milltek and that come back at 182bhp when it was standard and 181bhp after the work done :| - Something not right there..

I wouldnt use these! Even for fitting as they have been know to keep people exhausts after fitting performance ones, not using gaskets, and not pasting up the exhaust. Other than that they are extremley customer friendly. People may have other views about amd but this is mine...and a few others. I dont know what there like when it comes to fitting coilover etc...but when it comes to exhausts ^^

Oh just another thing i thought i aught to mention...if you ever get any work done there...after fitting they take the car on a test drive and absolutly 'rag' the car so see how the car performs after any work done. If you dont mind that then its okay, but if you do, then stay away. I never even knew they done this after someone who use to work there told me :\

Yeah but ive heard alot of bad reviews about them. Ive been there a few times, you come away thinking what a great job they done but further down the line you realise it wasnt such a good job...like when i had my full milltek fitted on my ST...when i went to take it off, the exhaust was leaking, no manifold gasket, and old gaskets had been used. I mean i didnt pay a near £1000 for old gaskets to be used and no gasket at the manifold. There only a few quid! But i looked at that as a 1 off...so i took my zetec s down there for a full milltek fitted, this time i gave them the exhaust paste and all the gaskets needed, but i asked for the exhaust paste back. But, they kept my standard exhaust system, when i asked for it back they said they had it disposed of for me :| I wanted to keep it!! And they said they couldnt find my exhaust paste! Also they didnt fit the manifold properly as it kept vibrating against the heat shield when i was going along! Had to take it back...again! There mapping isnt so good either! Tbh imo there seat, vw, audi specialists only...

They do say they'll keep the old exhaust. I asked for it to be kept so walked away with mine. I haven't had gaskets fitted so wouldn't know but can see paste has been used. I've have no problems with them so far and they fitted my exhaust, map and braided hoses and have no complaints. I went to have coilovers fitted but kw sent the wrong ones and they didn't charge me for any time spent taking the old off or putting it back on when they could of as I ordered the coilovers not them.

JAM Sport aren't very good I'm running their map with cams and its unfinished, worth trying is a superchips dealer -if your not happy with the map you can get a refund they have a map for the 197.. so should be able to sort the 200 too

I thought you had a k-tec map on yours?

What's wrong with the remap?

Which cams do you have?

Idle needs bumping up about 150/200rpm which Jam Sport can't do serious work on fueling and timing etc... especially on part throttle -Pretty amateur job to be honest

Schrick 288's

With the raft of new MOT tests and regulations being introduced from 01/01/2012 - one of them being the ability to detect remaps and thus MOT failure - i'm holding off until I see how it pans out.

I wish a map was available such as the one on my old Cupra which was running a Revo stage 1 map, but this was switchable back to the OEM map via a Revo SPS switch (which also cleared the flash counter).

Don't see how a remap would fail an mot. Thats like saying you can't cam an engine.....it needs mapping?!

how would your average garage check for a map? would need the diagnostic equipment for every manufacturer and have to know what to look for.

Dont know how a remap would fail on a roadworthy test.
