Joined up on here couple of years ago when had a LY 200 cup (believe to be 1 of 1) as a run about and an E46 M3 as a track car... see below

Clio sold in late 2017 and went to Wales I believe then haven't seen or heard anything of the car since.

M3 being the forever developing toy just had to come to an end. After countless track days putting down some good times and then one Nurburgring trip I just needed to get a car again that I would only take to clubsport spec so I could still enjoy it on the road and the track.

So the M3 sold and is being exported out of the country, then its replacement came a day later

Completely stock M2 - in time I will put my own stamp on it

Then only one week after the M3 track car was collected a good friend of mine had a massive itch for a little track toy, so we went and had a look at this - ended up buying it together

Previous owner is on here too I believe - user name : Cullen

Only came with the one seat, we plan on buy another Sabelt GT140 to match, but I have an old spare Recaro SPA that we are going to fit for the time being, also ordered some of the SW motorsport mounts to fit them with.

Hasn't got any usable front door cards so would like to source some of them, or if any members have any laying about that they've removed hit me up .

Tinkered about with it this evening and started to remove a few things to save on weight, most of the stripping has already been done but I have my eye on more.

We are booking Bedford GT for the 17th Aug, will be bringing both cars as I'd like to set a benchmark in the M2 completely stock. Both cars will be filming & timing.

I followed that build thread for the LY actually! Didn't realise it was owned by you though [emoji23] Be interesting to see what you do with the car!

Good to see you back, absolutely loved your m3. Really liked the yellow 200 too and have a soft spot for white 197s

The E46 was immense. I saw it at Players Classic a couple of times.

It looks like you have a strong base for the Clio build though. :thumb:

I was helping manage a BMW track day at Bedford recently with some guest drivers (Tom Oliphant, Paul O'Neill and Colin Turkington...) in some stripped out M240 race cars and they said the shorter wheelbase of the M240/M2 Comp was a perfect match for Bedford so I'd be intrigued to see how you get on!

Nothing much to update on the cup.

Had bit of time today so carried on weight saving, removed pretty much all the redundant metal brackets, rest of the sound deadening, passengers airbag and few bits of trim. All of which added up to 14kg

No idea what a good weight for a track car is ? But we are aiming for around 1100kg at a guess

Annoyingly still no seat mounts from SW motorsport

Been toying with a few ideas for door cards and settled on a plan... just waiting on the postman then can get started.

:tearsofjoy: Obviously didn't leave it like this, managed to get it sit really neat with the cover still one

Flatted the rear badge back to silver as hate black badges, removed the clio & RS badges, glass wiper delete bung.

We've also made a foot plate for the drivers side but no pictures of that yet. Then made a start on the door cards, wanted to copy the style I had in my M3

Started with a naff looking OEM card

Chop the middle out

Didn't take anymore along the way pictures. Not 100% finished but you get the idea.

Flat ABS sheet from Race Car Door Cards. Not seen any other clio with cards like this before, still light weight and looks neater with no fixings showing.

Hoping this allows us to still be able to wear short sleeves on track days.

Be doing a couple more jobs this Sunday in preparation for Bedford GT on the 17th.

Even in a hungover state we got the Clio ready for track

Finished both door cards off

Always hate seeing fixings on these style of flat door cards, only needed 3 along the top then velcroed the bottom on, plus the chopped down OEM topper to hide all the ugly bits.

Lastly made a 0.5mm carbon audio blank added some resin with left over neat kevlar and some magnets on the inside to act as a phone holder, had to space each corner and more in the middle to get the insert to follow the line of the dash.

This had to be screwed in unfortunately

From what i have noticed lately i think cars that came from the factory as Cup's had the basic rubber pedals. Just like they have the more basic dash, normal key and the steering column is slightly different too.

Loving the progress on this car. Door cards look great and makes me wish i had thought of doing it that way.

Cannot remember whether my 200 cup cane had metal or plastic.

Sure you could still do this, still light and hides all the ugly bits.

As a FYI the cups came with metal pedals, mine even had the footplate

The steering wheel is from a Clio dynamic

Was at Bedford Autodrome this Saturday just gone, signed both the Clio and M2 on.

While clearing out my GoPro memory card found a session from my last track day in the M3.

Back to the track day, on the run up we were doing so many little jobs to the CUP I cannot even remember all of them. Being that Bedford GT is one of the quietest track I was a little worried about failing the drive by db, so we had a bung made up to plug one of the tail pipes and that dropped the static by 5 db but we still got within 1db of the flyby on that day, so it would of definitely failed without.

Car took a hammering from us two all day long and it took it like a champ!

Knew lack of camber was going to be an issue so mounts is high on the list. Swapped the wheel front to back to prolong the life of them but the outer edges are pretty gone!

Car has a Quaife ATB and it did better than I expected, had a Wavetrac ATB in the M3 before and it totally ruined it, was the biggest waste of time and money ever, then went for a plated LSD, but in a FWD platform it performed well.

WARNING : is some swearing in this video - Ariel Atom driver slowed me down lap after lap

Will be getting some footage up from the M2 shortly

As a totally stock car it preformed well, hardest thing was me staying put in the seat and the brakes went off very quickly. All things that will be sorted down the line.

Hahaha some good driving...

Surprised no black flags from the marshals. Bit of nob driving from the atom.

I love Bedford but always seem to find the sort of driver that was in the Atom. They also don't seem to bother giving blue flags out anymore. Car looks planted though and sounds great.

Should have been blue flags at least.

Bought some of the pictures from MSV
