Usually only enforce that in open tops from what I've seen mate.

I always wear sleeves anyway, keep my arms nice and covered should the window come through.

Same, me and my brother only ended up with a few pieces of glass in our hands. Could've been worse!

personally i'd also service the brakes before hand. nothing worse that you slamming on last second and it not braking 100% dead straight.
