Power steering pump??

I noticed when i first collected my car that when turning i.e roundabouts, parking spaces, junctions there is a loud noise which sound like the power steering pump. This has gradually in the last month got louder.
Has anybody else experienced this or heard of anyone that has?
Im not sure if it is just the adaptive steering adjusting or if there is a problem

I think you have a problem with a steering column - I had it replaced, and now I need a new one (don't know what they did at the stealers last time, but after just 300km it started making noise, I took my car back and then they did someting and now it's quieter - unfortunately I lost my warranty due to the official street race I attended).

it doesnt have a "pump" - the system is electric - an elctric motor provides assistance as you turn the steering wheel - its mounted just under the dash on top half of the steering column
