Potential solution: V6 Airbox without moving the battery

Has anyone fitted a V6 Airbox without moving the battery to the boot?

After speaking to Simo i have been told it can be done by fitting a Spark 600 gel battery, as it's small enough to fit next to the airbox.

The cost and inconvenience of having the battery in the boot immediately put me of doing this modification, however i may give this alternative method a go.

Was just wondering if anyone had any feedback or opinions?

thanks in advance and here are some photos of the setup:

looks a good setup not sure what the cost would be to do all that?think you will need to make longer battery leads.

I think for this set up for around £350 you carnt go wrong and it's just a mater of pull out and put in.

bet theres not a lot of difference in bhp to.

I think I'm going to have to try this set up, don't really want to put my battery in the boot especially as I now have a Nos bottle in there.

i would do this in a herbeat as it looks much cooler as well however it won't fit a left hand drive car :worried:

If you get a small enough Varley or Odyssey then you'll be able to make it all fit. You could even probably lie the battery on it's side with them vein dry-cell anyway. Mine's in the boot, bit more space under the bonnet then for any future plans.

Saw a 197 at Ace cafe Monday night with a 172 ph1 airbox fitted, they make good gains on the 182s. Would be interesting to hear about that if the owners on the forum ( didn't recognise the car ).

I also think I may have to try this, I've always been interested in doing the v6 airbox but it put me off with the battery relocation do this looks a great idea

not to sure if the V6 box will fit with the varley red top15 with it been a bigger box than the maxogen but looks ok in the first pic with the motorbike battery.
