Lower arms coming along nicely, just the pesky rear bush that is doing my head in. These and the new ball joints in the swivel hubs should sharpen the old girl up.
All done, not too bad a job in the end. I didn’t need a press. I ended up using some bolts/all thread, nuts and sockets to make a puller and a vice to press the bushes in.
Managed to convince the Mrs I needed another day on the car lol.
Fitted:
New ABS sensor holders
Brembo drilled rear discs
New OE pads (Ferodo)
New rear calipers
Rear braided linea from HEL
Rear Gaz Golds
Just need to adjust the height and then it’s on to the front to fit my new hubs and lower arms with all new @Raptor6767 ball joints and powerflex bushes (thanks to @RSRowe) and the Gaz golds
Managed to grab another day on the car to do the front end. I’d previously bought some spare hubs and lower arms and had the new ball joints and bushes etc pressed in/fitted so it should have been easy - famous last words! I stripped what seemed like the whole front end of the car.
I enlarged the top mounts to 89mm with a hole saw to accommodate the adjustable top mounts on the coilovers. They had a quick rub down and a spray with white hammerite (I’m going to weld a ring of tube in for strength). Then came the process of bolting all the shiny new bits in.
Fitted the aluminium rad support from Josh Wheeler.
Quick blast with some anti corrosion spray and fitted the socks - knackered. Still need a couple of hours to finish off and torque up. Just need to drive it now lol.
Small update, I had some strengthening/holding plates made for the strut tops. Because the top mount holes on the car are slotted and there is caster adjustment on the Gaz top mounts; the bolts could sit in various positions and were likely to move around. These will hopefully hold it all together and give it a bit of rigidity.
I took my car to String Theory in Stratford upon Avon yesterday for a full geo setup. Ben is a top bloke and really knows his stuff! We’ve gone pretty aggressive with the front and rear camber, it looks awesome
