I know
@Big Ben showed his results in his progress thread. So i thought i'd put mine here for anyone else searching for the same in the future to hopefully find.
Thanks to Ben for the kick-up-the-ass i needed to do this - and the results are quick to achieve; and very noticeable !
1/ Take a scratched, scuffed, shiny on the contact points and generally 6 year old looking set of pedals:
2/ Prepare footwell for the oncoming mess. ***Tweenies duvet cover not essential. You can see state of pedals better in this pic:
3/ Take your cleaning medium. Ben used a soft wire suede type brush. I went down the various grades of scouring pad route:
4/ Get at it !!!!! I used typical green scouring pad as found in many homes first. The finish was great. But a little too grained / dull / motorsport looking for my liking - as per this picture. So i went at it with a couple of finer grades afterwards to get a slightly brighter look. And i always worked up and down (Vertically) - to keep the 'grain' going in one direction.
5/ Stand back and admire your handywork
Even with a rough looking set of pedals. From getting the rags and gear out to doing the job, cleaning up, locking the car and a quick hoover in the footwell between times was less than an hour.
And they should be a 5 minute job to refresh now during an interior clean.
