Well typical bored Saturday afternoon (slightly ill I have to add) so thought I'd post a tread which I've done on previous forums which seemed to get a good response and also was really interesting....


What cars have you guys come from to be currently in your Renault Sports, if you have pics then stick um up.


May as well start...


Pasted my test in 1997 (yes I'm that old) so this is in order.....


Rover Metro 1.1s (no photos of that which is probably a good thing)


Fiat Bravo 1.4s (thought I had a pic but can't find it, was pretty nice though)


Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6 Q System)



Seat Leon Cupra R 210bhp - mapped n tweek'd to 263bhp



Subaru Impreza RB5 Prodrive (pretty much hated that from the day I bought it) only kept for 6 months)



2nd Seat Leon Cupra R 225bhp - mapped and tweek'd to 282bhp (was a bit of an animal)



Sold my house and sold the then girlfriend and had a bit of a mid life (early) crisis...

BMW 330 CI M Sport



At the same time as the BMW I had this which me and my mate bought for a poor mans Gumball (I was the registered keeper so technically another for the list)


Jaguar XJ6 - £495 this cost between 4 of us, did 3642 miles in 6 days and never failed.... Until we come to sell it ha



Seat Ibiza Cupra 180bhp (I can't find a single pic of that for some reason)


VW R32



Honda Integra DC5 Type R (miss this so much...)






and now this lard arsed little bugger....



It's not a massive list and sure has hell will get longer in my lifetime but still, glad I'm currently in the 197. I can pretty much say it's more fun than all the above, even the DC5!!


Anyway be interesting to see what you guys have come from too....

Mines a bit easier haha!

Fiat Punto 1.2, had to replace an engine in it lol, no pictures. Could have been a good first car but it had lots of problems...



Fiesta Zetec S 1.6, really good car for me, before I got into a more powerful one, had this 2+ years and pretty much nothing went wrong! Unfortunately the only picture I have of it on this computer is a run in with a deer I had!




Then the Clio came, easily my favourite car so far (only had a few and I'm only 23 i know) even though its cost me a lot of money!




Btw im not a bike guy, but that one looks awesome!

No pics I'm afraid but in '76 (yes I'm THAT old!) I started with my Puch VZ50 moped, then the list goes, Honda CB125j, Yamaha XS650, Honda CX500 + Mini 1000, Kawasaki Z1000j, MGB GT, Vauxhall Nova SR, (hated that), another MGB GT, VW Santana GX5, (cheap way into an Audi for all intents and purposes). MG Metro, (had just bought 1st house) + Suzuki GS550, BMW K100RS, BMW K75s, Metro City 1.0l, (sick of winter commuting by bike & wanted tin box with a heater!), Metro 1.4i, (my mum's after she died),Merc 190E,Mitsubishi Galant estate, Alfa Romeo 156 1.9jtdm, most reliable car I've ever had (honestly) never let me down in nearly 8 years of ownership, Now Merc E class cabriolet + full fat RS200 with cup chassis. My perfect combination 1 for cruising & the other for hooning.

Haha tell me about it [MENTION=29138]Chris91[/MENTION]. It was on Schmidt modern lines. The fronts where 7.5j with 175/45/16 tyres stretched over. And the rears where 9j with 195/45/16 stretched over. Feel free to call me a stupid idiot, totally unsafe and unnecessary. It lasted about a month before I missed having a car you could actually drive properly haha.

Lol euro look was not for me.

Yeah some guys with mk5 fiestas did the whole stretching thing with bbs alloys etc. Not my cup of tea personally, and as you said, dangerous!

- Triumph Herald
- Hillman Imp ... wrote this off in a spectacular crash. Lucky to walk away from this!
- Ford Escort mk2 popular + ... horrid gutless car
- Cavalier mk1 1.6

Now it gets a bit more interesting:
- Alfasud 1.5ti ... and the colour... brown ... rusted like buggery though.
- Alfasud ti 105 ... invented the phrase "torque steer". Red of course
- Peugeot 309 gti (1.9) ... picked up what was the highest speeding fine up to that point in time in SW Scotland. Yes I was a Prat back then. Bare in mind this was the best part of 25 years ago.
- Citroen BX 16v ... first car that I had with ABS
- Citroen ZX Volcane ... don't you just love that name ... passive rear wheel steer could lead to some "interesting" situations.
- Renault 19 16v ... absolute gem of an engine
- Golf gti 16v mk3 ... loads of mods
- Subaru Impreza turbo my97 ... Long before most folks even new what one was. Sold after 18 months for almost what I bought it for. The halcyon days of Scooby ownership.
- Subaru Impreza turbo my99 ... Run out model with loads of bits from previous gen sti (gold speedlines of course)
- Subaru Impreza WRX my01 ... Nice car (bug eye) but think Subaru had started to loose their way here a bit.
- Seat Ibiza tdi 130 sport ... Problems too long to list. But here's a taster... new engine after 6 weeks (cam belt snapped coming onto the M74... EEK), re-built suspension, alarm, power steering pump etc. etc. After 1st year it was fine and ended up keeping it 8 years! Most cars go after two years with me.
- Ford Fiesta mk7 1.25 ... yes I know. Needed something quickly.
- Suzuki Swift sport (new shape) ... fantastic little motor. Sorry to see it go.
- Renault RS Clio 200t and "yes" I like the car, EDC gearbox and all. Room for improvement... but that's what makes cars such fun.

Haha yeah i got fed up of the "show car" lot having to keep the car in the garage all the time in immaculate condition. My dad had previously owned 2x 197s so knew i would love one so had a big change and i'm much more happy now
