Something I have been wondering lately is why we don't see more oversees members on here. Which led me on to wondering how popular our favourite french hatch is overseas?!

Yeah I guess,just be nice to see more of the mods and trends from other countries!

Thinking about it also. Skopusnik (Slovenian IIRC) has a bunch of people with 197/200s yet on Skopusnik is signed up on here.

With overseas, you mean other continents, and/or continental europe? For germany and switzerland i know there are forums, but by far smaller then english ones. Which may be a car problem considering their popularity and even more their affordability! Last but not least there is the difference in language, and whats important in many cases, there is your different car related laws which makes many discussions and threads useless for us...
The RS range is very expensive here, and especially the clio is more a younger people thing. At this age on the other hand there is the lack of money, enough money for something 'better', and especially other brands with more prestige get optioned first. Which sums it up pretty much i think.
Still there are some ppl who read here often from the german language area, and may it be just for a good read in these awesome forums ;-)

When I took my old 197 to a dealer in France, it was the first one he'd ever seen for real.....
You see, car wise i thino thats not true ;-) its amazing that by working here i can afford my car. But i can barely drive or modify it. Very strict street laws, strict enforcement of them and super expensive tickets.
Dont forget the raceway ban here since the 50s or so. So for driving go to passes- awesome view, great roads. But risk e erything when goin too fast. No racetrack to have fun. So go to racetracks in other countries or normal roads in germany too. There you can have legally fun in many places too. But its always some royal pain in the ass to get in any drive pleasing area....

They are popular abroad you just don't know about it 
France had the most sales of 197/200's from what i remember, followed by the UK...
Simo has a very good Italian forum that's very active, friendly and full of nicely modified Clios as well:

I have been in California for the last 8 weeks and since being here I have only seen one Renault and that was in Vegas. The cars here are crap btw, had a dodge charger and it was shocking.
