Old Gits LY.....now under conversion

This week .....I've mostly been fabricating!!

Although not brilliant, haven't welded for a good 8months and should of practiced before hand.

Tackled the throttle cable, mk1 design. Mk2 to come but does the job. Had to approach it this way to ensure nice smooth curves on the cable.

Found these a little while back, had to do some work on them and still more in the way of replacing the bushes.

Also test fit the android dash - using DTA S60 ecu with dtadriod app. Had some initial comms issues. As in baud rate on the rs232 to USB converter. Some duff USB leads!! But got there. Still playing around with the initial screen design but it's practical for now

In the process of fitting oil cooler and fabbing up a new alternator bracket. Tidied up the engine front, the sandwich plate is causing issues at the minute, trying to find a temperature sensor short enough to screw in the already ported plate.

It will be ready for Clio sport weekend [emoji53]

After being staring at it in the car for the past few days , I think a more simpler design could be constructed. This is one item I've put on my list for next winter fab projects.

Well the end is getting near !!!

Oil Cooler in place, with new alternator bracket and lightened pulley. Cleaned up a few items whilst in that area like the water pump feed pipe.
When I come to focus on the engine this next winter, the alternator will be replaced with a lightweight unit, usually found on shitsu charades

Procured and fitted a so called CF foot plate, not the best moulded unit I seen, however needs be. For ease ( as i initial thought , but found out not to be !) instead of trying to align four holes and have spacers to get the unit level and bolted to the floor pan, I decided to manufacture two brackets and weld them perindicular to the strengthening section running down the footwell. This would also provide some height.
Another job I seen whilst writing this post, need to change those foot pedal plates!

Popped in to see Chris at EFI Parts, Runcorn whilst on work related business  and procured this wideband lambda unit, simple in design, don't need gauge unit's as this will feed directly into the ECU and I can view AFR/lambda via this. Just waiting on a electrical connector to complete the installation.
Arranged dates for a mapping session as well!!

Well one of the many small jobs was to sort the header tank, as I'm know getting sick of spending money on this, shied away from a alloy unit and picked up a new clio 1*2 unit.

Whilst waiting on other eBay bits and underneath the car installing the new lambda probe and fixing a old defect on the exhaust. Bit the bullet and dropped out the gear lever unit and installed inside, this created another issue....handbrake bracket fouling! Arrrrrrhhh!!!!. After embedding a spanner into the windscreen, now sorted!

The gear/handbrake lever setup/location is good for when in 1st gear and releasing, as my hand is straight on for selecting second.

Added a few CF stickers to the roll cage bars as scratch protectors

Just a few more small jobs to do, as in blank a few holes in the bulkhead & dash. Get a new front windscreen and start bolting bodywork bits and pieces back on.

Oh and cranking the engine over and see if its starts!

Nearly getting there, hopefully the car is mapped and Geo'd in early July

Looking good! I admire the attention to detail. What set up are you using for the steering wheel? I can see the quick release, but can't work out how you've attached it to the column...

Its the alloy boss from a cup 197 race car. My steering column is from a earlier clio. Splines match.

A treat, but a shit job I must say of the refurb. Going to alloy place next for bead blast.

Well it's on wheels...rolled her out for a wash. Just killing time on one or two small jobs before mapping next week.

Done a basic geo myself. Reading a few articles and talking with a colleague who used to work for Volvo doing there type approvals. All done with string, spirit level, ruler and refreshing my memory on trigonometry! Will get a pro job done soon.
Oh and also stuck these on....jury still out....
