One of our Engineers was working in a quarry today, and had to be on-site early to meet a crane there: in order to lift out a large piece of equipment being refurbished.

He follows said crane off the main road, into the small side-road that leads to the Quarry. Few hundred yards down the road narrows and goes over a small hump-back bridge.

Our man says he never saw the crane slow down despite huge warning signs before the bridge. He then seemingly went over the small bridge; lost the back-end, slewed around a bit, touched the grass bank with its wheels and BOOM !!!! 67 tonnes of crane slid into the ditch on its side......

Did the driver survive? That is unbelievable

Passenger was lying ontop of driver on drivers side, which is the low side of the cab as it then sat (Passenger may not have had seatbelt on therefore ?) Both were half submerged in the ditch-water when he jumped over to look. Both got out ok though.

Retrieving the crane is going to be a whole new World altogether however........

Wow that was a big one! Hope he was ok! Bet everyone in the vicinity got a start, must have been a pretty loud bang!!

Good that they both got out. Give Quinto a buzz to help with the recovery:grinning:

need a crane to lift that out!

Needs two.

And being on a tiny side-road thats passes through marsh-land - where a crane couldn't even get the outriggers out; its going to need a huge amount of preparatory work making solid enough ground for them to both stand on in order to lift.

Raising the Concordia might have been an easier task.........

Going to be a big job recovering that, but as said glad that nobody appears to have been seriously hurt.

Bloody hell! Bet the cranes broken after that. What's a crane worth these days anyway?

Also hope the driver is alright :worried:

Your post reminds me of this picture I saw years ago :tearsofjoy:

Them last few pics are photoshopped. Note the blue truck with yellow crane is actually the green truck with orange crane.
