Not a good start to the day............

A very bad day at the office! Good that no one was hurt, as already said! I'd hate to be the bloke explaining that away to the bosses...

Think i'd have started off by saying:

"Yea it's me.......I'm having trouble seeing out the window" ?

"Could be because my crane is on its side in 3 feet of water though......."

Any update on this then @sevenfourate

You manage to get it out?

ME get it out lol. Yea i hooked it upto the Clio with with a strop. Put the RS into Rescue and Recovery mode; Gave it the beans and it just popped upright !

I gather it took a couple of specialist wreckers,2 other cranes etc totalling quite a few million pounds worth to eventually haul it out at 1am Sunday morning !

I also gather the next issue is getting the 67 tonne crane onto a low-loader, as it cant be done down this little backroad because of the weight - and the crane doesn't drive. I'm also told Environmental people were there Sat and apparently fuel / oil has leaked into the ditch and the penalties for that are absolutely humungous :-(

Word on the street is - even valuing the crane at a conservative £500k - it would have been cheaper for the insurance company to effectively write the crane off and leave it there as the total bill will far outweigh (No pun intended) the current value of he crane.

A crane which may still be written-off as yet if the damage is bad enough...........

Wow that is some serious expense for a silly mistake! Will heads likely roll then?? The mind boggles when you think about the value of these things - although I guess a serious bit of kit costs a serious amount of money, and that's before you lob it into a ditch!

Hollllyyyy.

lol didn't mean you get it out personally - just meant you as in team.

Nothing to do with us. Was contracted in third party to do a lift at a Quarry one of our guys happens to be working at.

Thankfully !!!
