MS 200 fun road and track car - and other car stuff!

Time to bring things up to date!
Plenty going on with the cars as ever!

Best place to start is where we left it, headed to Blyton Park...

This was the first track outing since I made an adjustment tool for the front Konis, so essentially the first track test of adjustable shocks.

There’s plenty of talk about the trackday and how the suspension went on the vid so I won’t repeat it unecessarily.

In a nutshell I had a cracking day, the car went well, suspension was a step up from Cup, though perhaps still felt more road biased (as it should), limited by spring rates IMO.

I suffered a little brake fade at the end of the day, unexpectedly so with the RC6 pads and RBF660 fluid. It seems they probably needed some cooling - doh!!

I’ve noticed a knock from the driver’s side front in the last week so need to investigate and put right.

With a first trackday of the year in the MX2000 booked in March and a bunch of car stuff going on, I think that will be it for Clio trackdays for a while.

That’s not to say it goes unloved though, stay tuned for exciting(ish) developments, and some updates on the other cars. :thumb:

Cracking read and great review on the Koni suspension kit with H&R springs. Originally I planned on buying a set of Bilstein B14 coilovers but based on being able to soften the dampers off these sounds like a great choice, especially if there is a costing saving as well.. Can I ask where you purchased the kit from? I see you mentioned around £650?

I got mine from eBay.de and just waited for the Euro rate to be a little more favourable, they ended up about £550.

Sub-£650 should be fairly easy, a bit of patience required for a bargain.

nice review..if only all of us were so talented when it comes to editing :excited:

glad you are happy with your setup..know when i switched to the Bilstein i was very much pleased with their performance compared to the standard set up....

Cheers @Pav about the editing, we’re making an effort with the vids and channel and it certainly doesn’t come easily or naturally to me.

Will who shares the channel with me is a graphic designer so I’ve had some learning to do to make sure I’m not letting the side down with my editing. :tearsofjoy:

Lots going on with the MX2000 ahead of the new trackday season.

Firstly the biggest job, now out of the way was a clutch change. Despite the extra power I was really keen to retain a nice useable clutch and happily I’ve done that with an ACT heavy duty pressure plate and genuine Honda friction disc.

It really is a joy to use and is actually slightly lighter and smoother than the standard Honda parts used previously.

Whilst it was apart, I took the opportunity to replace the Competition Clutches lightweight flywheel for an even lighter (about another 1kg) Fidanza item. Although a little extravagant, the suspercharger means the engine response coming off the throttle is dampened slightly. Removing a little mass has reduced this impact.

Another vid to accompany this update, this time from a run out from late summer last year. With the short days and fewer track outings we’ve finally made use of the footage.

Worth a look for those interested as I think it captures something of how silly and fun the car is on a twisty road!!

Exciting Clio update that I’ve eluded to is here!

Was a bit of a leap to replace the Recaros but I’m pleased with the outcome! :relaxed:

Nice wee video/review Matt. Totally get why you did this though the Recaro seats are fine for me. Think that your new seats look good too. Top job.

We’re looking at upgrading the Z4 before long, so took an M3 out.

Thought some of you might have a giggle at my partner’s reaction!

That was a brand new comp pack, we can’t affort that and want something a bit swoopier so looking for a c.20k mile M4. :relaxed:

They are awesome pieces of kit mate. I tried an M4 motorsport edition while I was down in BMW in October. It had the carbon ceramic brakes on it, a £7k extra!!! haha Sadly I opted for a new X3 for towing in the end. haha

at least she didn't go all 'mrs. ricardo patreze' on you ...

i've heard that a lot of GT3 owners who track their car, spec the cat with the steel brake discs, because the carbon ceramics are just so bloody expensive.
