As much as I love them, I'd say the only advantage the Megane had in the video is the weather. Ive got a few videos of my 197 (when it was standard) harassing lighweight/high powered cars in terrible weather at Knockhill.
If it was dry I suspect the Megane would have had no chance...
Well you say that...but......
From my trip to the ring earlier in the year.....
My Lap (im not driving, i'm in passenger seat)

My friends paid lap in Aston V8

Now there are some differences which need to be addressed, firstly, the Megane Lap is in an R26.R not a 225. It's also running 888's however the Aston Taxi's have semi slicks fitted too.
Both Video's are shot on the same afternoon, exactly the same track conditions.
The Test
Play both video's at the same time, but start both at the Yokohama bridge on the way down to Fox Hole. So Megane @ 2:56 and Aston @ 3:41
This is because there is an accident at Hatzenbach that spoils the first part of the Astons Lap.
Now, click play on both video's at the same time.....
OK, so to start with, the Aston has more traffic to contend with which admittedly would slow it down slightly.
Both cars reach Adenau at the same time, but the Aston Driver chooses to observe the speed limit (we didnt
)
Through Bergwerk and up the hill, level pegging!
At Karousel the Aston is a couple of car lengths ahead......
Unfortunately after Karousel some traffic slows us in the Megane and the Aston sprints ahead on clear track....
At Brunnchen the Aston is quite a way ahead....
But the Meg appears to make up some ground toward mini karousell and the last part of the lap....
So there is very little difference....would you agree?
Now there are too things to think here...
Chris in the Meg drives like an absolute boss with over 150 laps to his name.
The Aston driver is probably only driving at 90% as it's an experience drive......
