LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

I'll ring them close of play, I think if it's not running I won't hold out much hope. Though, TDF OEM their ECU as the EC1 and EC2 and has been seen running on Clios' (Ben R1's car infact) - just without the CAN integration.... it has to be posisble, doesn't it!!!!!!!?????
 
Should be firing tomorrow and mapping wed/thurs is the plan.

Turns out the Meg based version hasn't been possible to use any of it and the can and harness have all needed redoing. Didn't help that Renault supplied incorrect wiring diags!

Fingers crossed be picking it up on Friday and then get it to Brands for a track day. Had my eye on the 17th but away now, so a wet Decemeber one probably! Perfect for testing the new TC, aka my right foot :wink:
 
Hope so yes, I asked if any show stoppers and all was confident would be working fine. They had the can modelled on some fancy PC app and were doing stuff and things with it all. I'll ring back on wed's and see the state of play.

The CAN on the Meg is the same as on the Clio, so it's a bit strange they're saying they have to redo it all!

Hopefully they'll get it sorted for you though.
 
Didn't know the ph1 was different, does that mean people doing the Meg conversion must use a ph2 Meg ECU?

Not sure, didn't get chance to ring today so will call tomorrow. I would hope it's either been mapped today or being done tomorrow. However in light of the CAN info due to ECU's between ph1 and ph2 Meg's, seems likely they've had a full square 1 config to produce. Will be good going if it's ready this week.

Mostly done now, and showing some mega gains, however weird starting figure.... very similar after I took the car from Engine Dynamics to RS Tuning and it made similar gains. - OEM ECU unmapping itself?????? Great to be rid of the OEM ECU though, I know now that is what it is running and will not deviate from this.

Ignoring the figures themselves, I'll get it back to Surrey Rolling Road at some point just to see as I've used that dyno the most. - but ITB's, big valves and wilder cams though next year. I'm too far short of what I want.

Should pick the car up Wed's, it is by all accounts night and day better and super smooth which was the main objective.

I'll be hooking up with Titan at the Autosport show as I've been having conversations about a mk3 setup so want to have a look at the goods, explorer that option and cost it out. I also want to investigate the AT Power setup more which is off the shelf - I've seen that produce a 16bhp gain on a stock 197 engine installed in a mk2. It was mapped before and after on a standalone so accurate gains.

Always had bit of a negative perception with AT Power, which seems to be unjustified really. I think they got a bit of a kicking when the kit's released on 106's and I was running a custom Jenvey setup at the time, so just something that's stuck.

I mean if I stuck "16bhp" on mine it would be pretty much +/-230bhp. Add some wilder cams and big valve head and I think 240bhp is certainly a very real target, probably more.
Ultimatley it boils down to I'm disasspointed with the standard inlet manifold, I looked at the R3's using them and assumed it would be up to the job. Although a french tuner tells me the "230" makes more like 210 and the "250" more like 230.

What are thinking to do with the manifold now mate? Have you considered K-tec one?

I've got a mate at work whose father is a specialist engineer who used to be in the F1 field full time. He now works with a guy making only bespoke motorsport parts (just made some for Mclaren F1 team) who owns a rare Alpine A610 which used to belong to Nigel Mansell and a clio sport (unsure which model) and they are currently doing a bespoke exhaust manifold for it.

My mate told me that if I ever needed something like that done to give them a shout so I'm thinking to pop to Liverpool to have a chat with them. If you are interested let me know:smile:

Yiannis R3 exhaust manifold is fine and staying, it's the inlet manifold that needs to go mate.

I would think not a lot of point in them developing a mk3 exhaust manifold tbh, ktec is good for mild tunes and R3 for 230+bhp.

Fox I think the French have eaten all their powerful horses so they only have weak ones left to measure with :smiley:
