Little flat spot in 5th

Noticed today a little flat spot in 5th at about 5500 revs.

This normal?

Nah shouldnt be mate, vvt had kicked in then so you should be pulling like a train!
Hopefully someone with some more knowledge can explain why lol

It's pulling fine then seems flat for a split second then pulls again.
It's really small but noticeable

Should be noticeable in all gears should it not?

The engine will give the flat spot, nowt to do with the gears.

Could it not just be that because 1, 2, 3 and 4th are so short that when you go into 5th it just feels like a flats pot and it's actually just the long ratio gear?

No no its long after changing into 5th..

I'm already in 5th pulling pulling pulling, then drops for split second then carries on pulling

Sounds a bit bizzare to me but could be a sign of the gearbox failing - isn't unknown when it comes to Renaults :/

It's only done 10k miles

Yeah some boxes have failed with less than that on these though its usually the synchos that fail on 4th

Can't see a flat spot being related to a gearbox issue in anyway whatsoever unless you have a slipping clutch. I will give mine a spanking at Cadwell on Friday if there's any flat spot I will notice it there.

I gotta take it back to Renault for rear top mount to be done anyway so I'll mention it

Haha you do not want them testing that as that's above the national speed limit and even above the ban limit....

I'd try spark plugs

should just take off at 5.5k revs in fifth!!!!

right bang on max torque at those revs so should pull hard and clean!
