Legality Of Using Fog Lamps

Fog lights in clear conditions are useful for one thing: Spotting a moron coming the other way.

They are designed for when visibility is <100m. They also are not a substitute for a blown headlight bulb

Really makes me very angry when people use fog lights when its not needed..
Its against the law and very dangerous..not once I was put in a s****y situation because of ignorant drivers...
Please don't use unless necessary..many thanks

I only use when it is foggy as I'm aware it's illegal. Although my 172 looked sexy as hell when they were on

I find them quite annoying as they are dazzling. I live in a place where there are not a lot of street lamps and alot of young people's with Fiesta St's who really like driving with every light on imaginable. To top it all on my way home (alot of country lanes) everyone has there fogs on, maybe in case a tractor comes and cause they are doing 20 miles an hour the extra light will help. Rant over

I notice that a lot of people who have Nissan Jukes like to use their fog lights - as well as their headlights and DRLS, so there ends up being three tiers of lights!! Looks like they're doing a stage of the Lombard Rally!

I use mine on tight country lanes, lights up the verges a bit better when driving quickly.

Just went through a checkpoint on the way home tonight after such a drive. No mention of my fogs being on.

Note: I'm in the Republic of Ireland so may differ for UK laws

Seriously? Some of these Xenon and LED running lights are mega bright and blinding. At least fog lamps are down low.

I totally agree with this. Way not as distracting as xenon etc
