Ktec manifold review

Cheers guys

Right I'm home now so can do a quick write up. A quick shout out for two techs Renault specialist in Dartford who do some awesome work! fantastic team of knowledgeable guys at that place! vvv

So left the garage and drove sensibly down the road and noticed no difference. Hmmm. So jumped onto the m25 and took it easy whilst the Ecu started learning. This was where I started to hear an added droneyness which wasn't too pleasant, but it's something I will learn to live with, if not the a sports car will be in order I think. After 25 odd miles I turned off motorway onto some country roads. Came to a stop and pulled away briskly, first thing I have noticed. NO FLAT SPOTS! Result, I was expecting a disgusting one around 3k-4k but nothing.

The next thing I noticed was the power delivery. The car doesn't feel torquey low down the revs as it before. That said the car feels smoother and easier to control in low revs which I quite like, before it was quite jerky.Mid range torque is similar to before. But top end is mental, above 5k the car seems to take off and bloody screams it's tits off, Lol. Sounds cool I must admit.

So far quite unexpected interesting result. Things could change if the Ecu learns a bit more and the map will defiantly make a difference. The noise is very loud which may become tiresome after a while but I will see what happens. Excited for Thursday now. [emoji2]

I so want to hear what it sounds like at 5k now!!! Great write up buddy! Interested to hear how things pan out with this.

Thanks for sharing Luke, The car def needs a map now I wouldn't be giving it the beans until I'd make sure everything works fine.

Interesting to hear about the droneyness, I wouldn't expect it'd be that bad. A passenger ride is a must to experience it first hand:smile:

I've always wondered why people would rather have a toyosports manifold, there made from cheese from past experiences with other cars. Keeping an eye on this thread

Good write up and pleased to hear you like it so far. Hopefully things will get even better after the map! Keep us updated.

Nice little jump in power that and you can see improvements across the rev range.

Did you have it mapped to super unleaded or normal fuel that's the question?!

Cheers for your kind words guys.

Chris_200CUP I have the maxogen intake, Supersprint resonated centre section and Supersprint race back box.

Pav ha you sure did mate, but technically we didn't shake on it lol!

Mattb_197 always run on V power mate and mapped to 99ron.

Now time for my review.

I'm happy but then i must admit it's not a huge difference, but that has to be expected with mapping an N/A car. I hate to admit this but even after the remap I am sure the car felt more torquey before fitting the manifold, I said this to Paul and he told me this tends to happen when fitting the manifolds, you loose a bit of torque but gain HP. I'm still not convinced the car is faster tbh, I'm wondering if it's the lack of back pressure that's causing a negative effect, or it might just feel slower due to less torque. The car is very very noisy too, I could resolve these issues by fitting a sports cat which could be an idea for the future.

So went out on a private owned road earlier and really opened it up, the exhaust was singing and eventually heated up nicely, the tone changed and added a cool raspy note and on every gear change it unleashed a huge back fire! [emoji15] It sounded bloody awesome. The exhaust is annoying when cruising but makes up for it when you put your foot down!

So the question is would I say it's worth the manifold is worth its price tag and labour costs. Hmmm [emoji848] it's hard to say. Performance wise I really don't notice a huge difference, no flat spots appeared which is brilliant, when you are in the mood for it the noise is great but very loud when cruising. Keep in mind systems like the akrapovic and miltek will be quieter than my Supersprint resonated race system.

So my conclusion is, for what it costs to buy, fit and remap the car I do not think a manifold is worth it. :worried: Though I will say this is a real top quality product from Ktec and manifold clearly does improve BHP with no flat spots or subframe knocking. I would 100% spend the extra on this one over the toyosports (just my opinion, I still think the toyosports is still great value). Say for example your flexis go and you are happy to remap your car then 100% go for one of these manifolds, but if you are like me and just doing it for some extra power then I don't think there is any point.

Please let me know what you guys think, feel free to agree or disagree, let me know what you think.

I also had a ktec manifold fitted at the same time as my remap. (not out of choice, flexis on stock manifold were properly screwed lol). I got results of 204.4 Bhp after remap which i was very happy with

think it is a very fair review..like you say if someone is in need of fitting a new manifold, and the money is an issue, then the toysport is a way to go..you will not see massive gains..tbh,i cant hardly tell the difference after remap..and my gain was over 13 bhp..think its more noticeable torque-wise...

thanks for your input and enjoy your car Luke
