Knock knock, steering?

My 200 has recently started making a knocking from the steering. I've seen posts about the uj bolt needing a good tighten but that hasn't solved it. The steering also feels like it's got a dead spot when going from one direction to the other. This has all started in the last few days and I've got a driving weekend in Wales coming up on the 15th so I'm desperate to figure it out! Video for your perusal;

Diagnosing steering rack/column knock?

Hi, Not sure if I am being overly paranoid or not, but I am concerned that I could have a rack/column issue which appears to be a common issue on these cars (200 Cup)? If I am stationary (engine running so no steering lock) and wiggle the wheel from left to right I hear a clunking noise, it's...

It’ll either be track rod inners, outers, or a swivel joint.
Need to get it on a ramp to diagnose really.

I've booked it in for an alignment check at kwik fit on Wednesday and it's going to my usual mechanic on Thursday for a new thermostat so if they find anything wrong on weds I'll have it changed Thursday. It's not broke broke because I'm off to Wales on Friday!

Didn't get alignemt checked this morning. Garage was booked for yesterday not tomorrow and I didn't get the car back until this afternoon. Best laid plans and all that eh!
Currently no knocking but still vagueness about straight ahead.
