Lol! I have to drive to get to circuits. Nearest proper circuit is Knockhill which is around 130/140 miles & strangely I've yet to go there. I actually enjoy long distance driving so it's fine. Have a lot of friends down south I meet up with as I'm from Surrey originally.
Been a while since I've had any updates so here goes.
I've been mulling over what to do about wheels and tyres for a while. Last few track days I have thought I am getting quicker with experience & at Llandow a couple of folk commented that I am faster than before. I considered AD08r on my current rims & then getting some Rainsports on another set of rims, but I really didn't want to change from my current PS4 for road use. Although the weather in Scotland is nowhere near what people choose to believe there are days when I can go out for a hoon in sunshine & go through a few heavy showers whilst the day is basically sunny. I'm so pleased with the PS4 as they grip so well over all weather conditions. I didn't want to feel that I was missing out on wet days on AD08r if I ran these as my usual tyre. So I decided to keep the PS4 on my current rims. This meant looking for something more track oriented for track days, keeping the PS4 for wet track days.
Having read @Lewis Watson's thoughts on Toyo R888r I decided these were what I would go for.
Next some rims. I really wanted to keep with the same specification as my Team Dynamics i.e. 17", 7.5j et50, but I didn't want to spend silly money. I looked for used wheels for a few months but never found anything that appealed so started looking at new wheels. Wolfrace Trackready Pro lite Eco 2.0 caught my eye as being suitable and not too costly. Around a kilo less in weight than 7.5j Speedlines they're not in the same league as Team Dynamics or Oz but offer a useful saving in unsprung weight & a set of 4 brand new cost me less than £440 so pretty good value. I ordered et50 but when they arrived I opened 2 of the boxes to find they were stamped et35. Long story short it turned out Wolfrace had machined them down to et45 as they considered that better for the Clio than et50 where they thought I might have clearance issues on rear brake callipers. This despite their website and the sellers website saying et50 would fit. Having done a test fitting I don't think that there would have been any issues with et50, but I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of getting them uplifted & exchanged so et45 it is. If I had opened all the boxes I would have found paperwork telling me the wheels had been machined before I started talking to the selling company.
Anyway the Toyos went on today so here's the obligatory pictures. A nice looking wheel at a good price in my opinion.
New wheels look good! Very odd that the manufacturers messed around with the offset so much, and Et45 sounds quite wide. Comparing my track wheels with yours using Willtheyfit.com, looks like they will be very similar in how they sit relative to the wheel arches. Should look nice on the car!

Yes, Knockhill next week. However my wife had surgery last week & there have been post op complications so I'm keeping fingers crossed that I will be able to go. As a friend is coming up from S.E. England to do the track day with me it would be a pity to miss it.
Finally got around to seeing what the new track wheels look like on the car today. Et 45 certainly fills the arches nicely. Had a quick spin of around 3 miles & no clearance issues found. Dunno if it's just my eyes, but somehow the Toyos look wider than other tyres to me despite still being 215s.
I then decided that with snow forecast for the end of next week I might as well put my winter Speedlines along with winter tyres on. Having run et50 wheels all summer it looks strange seeing the wheels tucked into the arches so much, but I really couldn't be bothered putting my spacers on only to remove them in the Spring.
Lol, I live in an ordinary 4 bed bungalow but we bought it from a guy who won £3 million on the lottery. He had a couple of Audi Quattros & a 911 so extended the garage into a triple one. My eyes lit up when we viewed the house! Hoping it's a lucky house but been here 18 years & still no jackpot on lottery or premium bonds!
