Took it to Renault as wanted them to do the cambelt properly - not alot of 197's have had cambelt changes so wasnt happy sending it to a "specialist" as it is a big job

While there's some that know what they're doing, they're in a minority, and generally they dont have a reason to care. Very few main dealer techs are enthusiasts, they just want to get the job done fast and get their bonus.

The timing procedure is also very similar to a 172/182, so it's not really a big deal in those terms

I wouldn't take my 200 to the local Renault dealer if they were the last dealer on the planet.

I'd rather take my chances with the latest book "Changing cambelts for Dummies" and do it myself TBH !!
