is there any point driving nice/modified cars anymore?

so it seems this officers eyes are calibrated to detect speed. i wuld have taken his details and reported him to the duty inspector. there is no way he can prove you were speeding unless he has vascar or equivalent. write down every time they stop you time, place and badge no. of officers.
i used to get serious bother from the ruc back in ireland. 2nd time i lost the books for diffing the hassle i got before and after the court case was awful. i noted everything and refused to carry any documents. a producer leaves a paper trail and evidence to back it up. example 1 officer told me "no matter what road you drive down we will be there and we will get you again and again and again". another "thats a nice car pity you wont be driving it for a long time".
after i served my ban do the crime do the time is my moto, it got worse. following me home at night and to work. so i used to take a wee detour they wouldnt follow, i used to live close to west belfast which is a notorious no go area for the police. so when they followed me i used to cut through poleglass and take the back roads home. 1 night they were waiting at my house came up the drive and started questioning my driving home stating i was speeding on a certain road, which i couldnt have been as i was taking my usual route through west belfast. i told them that and they didnt believe me. my auld lad came out and told them to get off the property as they had no business being there.
in the end i went to geraldine finnucane a prominent solicitor in belfast, gave her all my evidence that i had gathered over 3 years.
went to court on the grounds of police harrassment, was in court for 2 days. the piolice had no evidence to offer worth talking about. 1 of the constables was sacked for gross misconduct and another had left the police.
in the end the judge ruled in my favour stating the police had wrongfully accused me and harrassed me. he said had i not kept such a detailed diary of events with producers to back it up my case wouldnt have been so strong. i had 157 in 30 months.
i won my case and i recieved a writted apology from the chief constable and £3000 damages. after that i never got any hassle from the police, from what i was told by another police man i know quite a few internal diciplines were handed out after my case.
keep i diary dont let them away with it.

*************EDIT************************
i have no problems with the police at all want to make that very clear. in fact im a ministry of defence police officer now. back when this happened was the dark days in n ireland.
most police officers i have met and even know are decent and are just doing a job. some do take it to extremes and can/are complete idiots.

That's proper police harassment mate. I'm glad you got it sorted in the end and keeping a diary is a very good idea and one I will start doing.

I solved my police harassment by going through dewsbury police who were very helpful. I spoke to someone in charge there (can't remember who) and I explained that I was fed up of having to produce my documents 4 times a week.

After this this and explaining what had been going on the police were no longer allowed to pull me all the time unless however they did have a valid reason. Something was marked against my Reg plate too.

I don't know how it worked but after that I had no trouble for ages and the police left me alone

Stopped once, some of you will know the story, CBA to repeat it again, the ROZZA was ok when he realised he made a genuine mistake.

Think you will get some t**sers but on the whole they are ok, if you give them s**t then expect to get it in return.

If you are stopped then treat the police man/woman how you would like to be treated yourself, it goes along way you know!

Some funny / out of order stories on here.

Im not a huge fan of the plod i was stopped at tesco as part of a routine or something. When the officers checked my car details and the kind lady on the other end of the phone said that there are over 40 cars registered to that address. 2 hours spent in a tesco car park explaining why i owned 40 brand new cars, Mercs, Lambo, 35 cayennes etc where they were kept and how i could afford them. I was fuming, embarrassed and nervous. Its all a legit business we do taxes paid. If they want to know more call me, pop round ill put the kettle on and ill have a chat at home not in the back of a squad car in a public place when i havent got out my trackys and all i want is some snacks for my belly.

IMO if you push the law and get caught then you can't complain, sadly (and this is not limited to police but all professions) there will always be a number of complete and utter jobs-worths a%&es.

I've met a fair few police (admittedly only once on the wrong side) and I've always found them to be quite normal, then again some were nice and some were completely immature so and so's (just like anyone else tbh).

I think as Woody as no doubt put across already it's important to remember that they're just doing their job. (though Gouldy's story is an exception) Some are maybe just a little over zealous.

p.s. I wish I could claim to have even one Lambo registered to my address, never mind that and 40+ other cars

To be honest I'm from down in Southampton and alot of people down here love modified cars! We all meet up to chat and socialise and generally talk cars!

At our meeting places there are always coppers waiting around the area trying to catch us but that to me is fair enough! We all drive sensibly and therefor never get caught! The popo often come round and chat to us all and most of them seem really nice and into their cars which is great!

We spend alot of money on our cars and they down here respect that and are genuinly interested in what we have done and the time and effort it takes us!!

Think it's just a luck of the draw with the police you get and luckily for us there brilliant!

We had a meet with over 100 modified cars in a public car park, £100,000s of pounds worth of lovely modded cars, they just turned up and checked everything was ok and we were behaving n they were fine!

We had a bloody dj there running off a generator from a 40 year old jag they must be good police!!

All times i have been stoped the police have been fine 2 times i can remember quite well are...

1. doing 130+ on motorway. got stopped by police ( didnt see him creep up on me ) but was my word against him so he had to let me go.
2. went through about 3 different speed limits speeding through all and two coppers who had been following me let me off, dont know how tbh.

never been stopped without a reason though.
p.s. i dont drive like this anymore, this was when i had my vts and i was a young new driver

Good point Gromb!

I can't say I've ever had much bother with the police tbh, I've been pulled and checked before (it was at a census point or whatever they are called and the officer was a bit of a ... been penikity about sorting my tax out before the end of month or something similar & telling me off for using my phone whilst he checked my details!)

At the end of the day it is annoying I know when you get stopped especially when you can see no reason, but hey, these guys are trained and paid to see the things we don't and keep us relatively safe from all the idiots that are out there. As Woody & Twig have said they're just doing their jobs (I'm sure I annoy people no end doing callbacks continuously until they give me a straight answer).

I often wonder that. When I first got my vRS it was my pride and joy. I regularly detailed it and looked after it. But now with the odd marks from parked cars and even a dent on the roof I now don't bother. It gets wash in the rain and that's it. I still watch where I park it though. I never park in spaces that are too tight or next to someone who has driven in at an angle (usually a 4x4 driver). There's a good chance they will hit your car reversing out. Happened to my dad's Octavia and caved the sill in and dented to door.
