is there any point driving nice/modified cars anymore?

well as I said before . .. . . "reason to believe" is more than enough to pull you over, the officers don't just "want you to be arsey" they are routine checks and more often than not people are left to there own devices. sometimes the central database doesnt recognise something like a glitch in the system. so you will get pulled over to check etc etc

Oh no doubt, from what I've been told about the masses of paperwork etc. that needs to be filled in for every minor event I'm quite sure they won't pull you unless they have reasonable suspiscion or you're genuinely driving like a **** or looking dodgy. The ones around here are generally ok. I've had one less than perfect run in with one known (known by his colleagues I might add) complete cock of a copper. On the limited other times I'ver ever had to speak to our local lot, they've always been chirpy enough and seemed alright.

If anything, it sounds as if there's not much consistency region-by-region.

I added to my last post whilst you were still typing I think by the way.

modified cars arnt targets either by the way. I can tell you exactly the types of car that will get pullled over more often.

1. rediculously loud exhausts. (this is illegal)
2. very dark tints
3. known offender cars.
4. cars that look like drug dealer cars. (stop and search)
5. any car that has something missing on database
i could go on for hours but i wont bore you lol

So, basically anything with the words Evo or Impreza on the back then!?!

Well, they're usually 1,2 & 4 on that list hahaha!!!

Saying that, my dad's on his 3rd Impreza ('10 WRXS) and he's never once been stopped.

BUT, the one and only time he drove my old '90 205 GTi (the one I got stopped in), he got pulled over hahaha!!!

Pressed Metal Plates.

Legal UK Font, correct spacing, makers postcode on the bottom.

We honestly thought they were fine, they were TUV marked too but apparently they had to be BS Kite marked...

This was about a week after I'd been pulled. To be honest, I think the car was just a magnet for whatever reason. We sold it a month later.

hmmmm tough 1 to call really as how can u see that without pulling you.

on the other hand if it was easily noticeable its hard to let it go.

£30 fine and ordered to change them within 72 hours?

It was easy to see they were Pressed yeah but I think the slight difference in colour on the yellow background compared to a normal acrylic plate maymay have been what he originally noticed and wanted to investigate. Which is fair enough really, like you say, there's no way he could've seen the TUV stamp etc. when he first saw the car. Yeah £30 ticket and £20 for new plates. Dammit hahaha!!!

I'd been pulled for speeding, but my dad said that as he was talking to the copper it was my details coming over the radio as the car was registered to me. He was fully insured to drive it like, but wether something had pinged up on the system when he was in the traffic behind my dad because of me being pulled so recently beforehand I don't know.

Hello

I have read through the comments since my last post on this thread and woody, I don't hate the police at all. There are alot of sound coppers out there but like someone else mentioned, most people out there have alot of bad experiences with the law and unfortunately there are the prick coppers that ruin the reputation for the decent ones.

The police are Trying to do their jobs but slot of them go the wrong way about it.

Like I mentioned in a previous post, I were full on arrested in my own car, had my head smashed off the top of the police car door frame and talked to like I were a piece of **** for 30 mins until the coppers realised they had messed up. I have never seen someone so embarrassed in all my life.

It's the coppers like that I can't stand.

After some thought I'm seriously considering not even bothering getting another car. I am not paying all that money for a car to call it my pride and joy to be harassed everytime i drive it.

I have better things to be doing with my time.

I was never pulled over by the British Police in the two years I owned my Impreza STI. I was however stopped at gunpoint by the Belgian Police and escorted into the back of a police van for speeding though :001_rolleyes:

Oooh, now that's a propper pull!!!

How far over the limit were you doing to get that response!?!

I've never had any problems with the police which werent as a result of me being young and stupid.

Caught speeding once and pulled over for undertaking an unmarked police van (Oops). Never been pulled over cause I was young and/or in a modified car.
