If you wana take a look at the ship its at Stokes bay in Portsmouth. Thanks for looking

hopefully they can look after themselves now and we can leave them be and bring our troops home!

Looks like they're geared up for another peace keeping mission......

Mind you would love to look around one, amazing bit of engineering.

Im in the navy and OMG what a serious bit of kit!!! Shame we cant launch fast jets from the sea anymore and have probably lost that functionality about 10 years!!

How long is it there for nick.?
Is it going to be there next weekend during the cannon run thing.?

I would have it in the twisties....

Thats very impressive but you have to question why we dont have similar carriers over here... :s

Mostly because of the 'carrier decision' back in the late 60's. We had some great looking carriers then! But it seems the same decisions are made again and again. When the Ark Royal was scrapped the UK was without fast jets until the HMS Hermes and Invincible class took on the Harriers.

This was the Ark Royal parked next to the Nimitz in 1978.

I saw one of these years ago over in the US and holy **** how these things stay a float is a mystery (i know how a vessel floats but damn) lol.

Some serious bit of kit.

Just a few mate, It's probably got more fire power than the whole of the RAF lol

its like a floating city mighty impressive

was thinking the same..............when the defence cuts kick in we wont have much left.....

The rumour is its going out today but the BBC are saying tuesday. Its heading to a hotter place which admitadly is'nt hard lol.

It was over here as a work up exercise of the coast of cornwall and Wales. It was or would have been the first atlantic exercise for the EA-18G Growlers. To say the RAF and Royal navy buggered it up for them is an understatment. We promised them fuel diverts {Yeovilton and Lyneham} and air refueling facilities and we let them down. Our tankers were mainly unavailable and Yeovilton was shut. Then Lyneham would'nt except them because they were waking the locals up. I had F18 fighter pilots on the radio saying it was a joke and this is the last time they'll be on exercise over here.

So after promising all that they could only do about 30% of there training. Next stop there going to protect our troops not 100% ready thanks to our MOD
