How to check the status of BELT

I have no to very little documentation to my 2009 Clio.. any recommendation to check the condition of the belt? or its age? they guy said it is 10k and 1 year, but want to make sure it is.. or only recommendation is to replace it..

I'd guess you'd have to take the cover of, or maybe there's an inspection panel. I took mine to a specialist for a health check when I bought mine as I was in the same boat.

Thank you, yes I took it today to. my very good friend - highly skilled mechanic, tomorrow he will spend a full day on it, we agreed on several stuff.. He has spotted from outside a very new water pump, so he assumes it is a new set installed, he will do a deep check, change all liquids, etc. so far I like the car very much, moved from 400plus HP BMW M140i, wanted high rpm, high emotions, go kart.. planning to replace steering wheel, Sparco seats on the way, new wheels on the way, etc. will share some photos when I am happy and proud owner.

There should be an exposed section to the belt on the street car, I think only the cup cars have extra shielding over the belt. Just have a look for any frayed areas or cracks on the belt. If the water pump is new, that is probably a good sign as you are supposed to do cam belt, dephaser pulley, water pump and aux belt as a group usually, although sometimes people skip the aux service.

Drive Belt (aka Aux. Belt) status can be visually inspected (good, dry, etc) via it's portion that goes over the alternator's pulley.

Cam Belt is covered with a shield and open when it's change is due (~60-80,000 km)
