Heater problem

Does anyone know or had this problem.

Heaters will not work on no 4 setting which is full blast onlu upto no 3 , but the heaters are hit and miss if they blow or not ( excuse the pun )
Im not getting warm air just lootwarm air.

any ideas and ideas on cost too?

If its similar set up to the mk2 try the heater resistor that brings the 4 fan speeds in normally cheap fixes bud you'll find it right next to the motor for heater fan under scuttle panel

The resistor fault will cause you to only have max speed or no heaters at all, and it shouldn't be intermittent. I wouldn't say it's a cheap fix at £120 from Renault but there is a chap on eBay who repairs faulty units for £40 if you post it away.

All this on the assumption the mk3 is of a similar setup to the mk2

There's normally quite a few in eBay or clip spares ... But yea I see what you mean by intermittent it's probally the brush gear in the motor going faulty check te motor when you check the resistor if commutator is all black brushes have got proba easier to buy a second hand motor from eBay or scrappy again I'm going from knowledge on mk2

this happened to my 197, cant remember what the fault was but i was done under warranty anyway.
