Weird heater problem

Hey guys,
Wanted to ask peoples thoughts.

My heater control is working and have no issues with AC but when I try use the heater it will not produce hot air until it's on the max setting. If any lower than the max temp it blows cool air.
Is there anything I should check?
 
As Sean said, so how it works is the highest level has zero resistance, then it adds increasing resistance going down the speed settings (so lowest has the highest resistance).

Almost every car I have owed has had this problem (200 starting doing it last week) and always wondered why the highest level always worked :grinning:

I looked for it into ebay and this came up. Is this what I need?

Check the connector most likely it has melted around the pins you can get a new splice in part but what I did so I did not cut the loom is remove the pins and put them into the new connector but best to check the pollen filter if it is wet or blocked that's the main cause of the heater blower coming under load and melting the connector. Trying to see if it was wet is the hardest to check the scuttle bay can fill with water and spill down into the pollen filter which most likely will have dried out when you go to check it. The one in the picture would not run on number 4 position and the resistor you see is for the non climate control option ( not the digital digital one) but check this out first its simple and all mk3 Clio's have the connector so you have a chance to get it local.

The NO, VE, VI are French abbreviations for wire colour i.e. NO = NOIR = black

Mine looks like this which is different from the videos. Is there a version with less wires going to it?

OK you seem to have Climate control look at this picture check the other plug for melting the climate control has a sub harness find and check the plug further up the harness which is the non climate control plug. Or someone has already spliced in some other resistor pack to fix yours before you got the car as yours is missing the two screws that hold it in and is sitting the other way up in the housing.

Give the blower full 12V and make sure its working might save a lot of trouble and you have checked the two fuses F10 and F11 20Amp then check the secondary and primary plugs for melting ( your car might be different as it has climate control but has a cup style ignition key instead of keyless)

Good news yours is a factory resistor pack it's just a different type than we in the UK see found it in the service manual
