Easiest way to empty fuel tank?

My 197 has been off the road for a couple of years and I'm looking to empty the fuel tank and refill it with fresh before I get it running again.

So what is the easiest way to do this...?

1. Access the tank from under the rear seat, remove the fuel pump, and siphon the fuel? (I've read the cap could be hard screw back on)
2. Remove the fuel line and send 12V to the pump until it's empty?
3. Some other way

Any help and advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Haha, yes obviously the quickest and most fun way would be to drive it. But as the fuel is so old and potentially gummy I'd rather get rid of the old stuff as long as it's not too bad of a job.

The easiest way would be to take the quick connect fuel line off the fuel rail and run it to a container. You’ll need to power the pump directly as you mentioned.

Would you know what the easiest way to get power to the pump would be? I believe there is about half a tank of fuel so it may take a while.

There are 4 wires for the fuel pump/sender. The 2 thicker wires are the power for the pump. Mine were black and white, black being ground and white being 12v.
