Clio goes... Panda 100hp arrives.

With great sadness I sold my Clio a week last Saturday to a guy who's had many RSs including 172 Cup, 197 and R27s. A House deposit must come before a thirsty hatchback.

I then went to pick up this:

34k miles, FSH at the supplying Fiat/Lancia specialist including cambelt just done. Body work in mint condition, hardly a mark on it. Wheels curbed but they're repairable.

First few jobs/mods done:

Uniroyal Rainsport 2s all round
Silver indicator bulbs all round
Stereo/amp/sub installed
Hardwire satnav and phone charger/holder

Overall I'm very happy with it. I obviously miss the performance and noise of the Clio but the Panda is still fun when you wring its neck. The two people I've taken out in it so far said it felt more powerful than it actually is. I guess that's down to it only being 975kg!

If anyone is thinking of downgrading their Clio to something with similar characteristics but costing much less to run then this car is definitely the answer.

I'm doing Curborough sprint track in it at the start of next month... I can't wait!

Like these.

Surely though you wouldn't have got that much towards a deposit by getting this instead of the clio?

Cheers Foxy!

£1300 in the bank plus a £470 refund on insurance plus approx. 66% better fuel economy, less tax, every part costs about 50% of the equivalent 197 part. Not a great amount initially but over time it will add up (I hope). I do 17k miles a year as well so 26mpg in the Clio meant I spent over £6k in 18 months on V-Power.

I hope you miss the Clio a terrible amount :tongueout:

On a serious note the money saving side of things is nice. You will notice how little you need to stop off for fuel now lol, I cant get use to it!

Nah only front unfortunately! They do do a 4x4 called the Cross 4x4.

White is very rare! I had time constraints. I agreed a sale on Thursday for mine and had until Saturday to find one...

very easy to repair/service as well :book:

Excellent! There is so much room in the engine bay that I was able to change both front indicators in less than 4 hours without a single scratch on my hand or a single expletive being muttered!

done plenty of work on fiat puntos etc and the panda is basically the same

nice simple mechanics - also a few good forums for information as well

servicing a breeze - even 16v engines

the panda is one of the better built fiats as well :book:

How can all of you like this car is a ****ing fiat panda if your going to get a fiat get the 500 or punto abarth

You are aware that a '****ing fiat panda' is the same car underneath as a 500 aren't you?

Also, how would selling my Clio and blowing £10k on a 500 Abarth help me save for a house?

Please think before you post in future.

Best regards.

the panda isnt a glorified hairdressers/estate agents car for starters ie fashion over function

secondly they are massive sporty fun for little ££££ and still simple to maintain..

:driveby:

Looks a decent motor that Ross. There's a blue one near me with dark wheels that looks pretty smart.

All it needs now is some speedlines and a cup spoiler.

Haha believe it or not you can get something similar to a cup spoiler...

I think I'll make do with my 'sprint' spoiler :tongueout:
