Cambelt kit on EBAY, seem's too cheap?

HI

Like what Sevenfourate says is true its a fake, well its partially fake lol, the dephaser is genuine but the rest of it is not, some companies sadly do this to get the sale. The official one is made a company called gates, and if its bought from renault top of my head says renault on it but reading from the net thats what i gathered, but please dont just take my word for it and hopefully more knowledgeable people will chime in. If your in doubt go to a more reputable place and get the parts. As you might pay more but you will get the right quality parts, as i wouldnt put that on my car but i bet plenty of people have and it works, just sadly normally not as good or as long as original.

to confuse you a little..i had a Meyle kit fitted to my boosted clio and it is spot on..im sure a genuine item has a certain appeal but other companies do a great job too..i may be wrong but had no trouble what so ever and it's been fitted for over a year..done a couple of track days too..

Mate that is confusing and with a more advanced machine like yours wow, if you dont mind me asking what made you get that kit? as i have always been told to get the genuine ones as its not worth the risk of anything else, but if its working that good a suppose theres got to be some myths out there too! Nice one mate :thumb:

Another @renaultpartsdirect fan. Wait for Paul to have a sale on (quite common) and pick a kit up then. I got mine on Black Friday last year just because of how much discount there was then had it fitted in February. Not a fan of eBay specials for something as serious as a cambelt kit.

Sadly i am the same just dont want to risk it, but if its working for Pav thats fair play to him aswell. :thumb:

if you can get a genuine item for a good price then dont hesitate..i purely went for this kit as it was cheaper to be honest, and wanted to try something different :thumb:

im sure these (non-genuine companies) can't afford to make shit products..especially when it comes to such an essential item as timing kit...my opinion

Thanks mate, i do believe in all honesty what you say makes perfect sense, just i think most people wont try a different part for the worry something might go wrong, and to be honest am pretty much the same unless theres something tried and tested and OEM parts are, or some manufactures even equal or surpass them. Normally if you look around online a lot of stuff comes up for a good price now and then and i can understand some times you need a part straight away though. Dont like being the guinea pig for unknown brands, dont feel that brave lol other wise why not if it does the job and saves loot thats fantastic! But if a few people recommend its good enough will possibly try em sooner or later. Theres a balance some where between cost and quality and with OEM parts theres quality but a good cost.

Always used gates myself. A lot of manufacturers use them.

Renault belts are more than likely made by a different supplier.

I bought an aux belt kit for my wife's ph1 from euro car parts years ago. It was all genuine parts with the renault badge ground off.
