blowing exhaust

Hi, found out recently that the exhaust on my 197 is blowing, seems to be coming from right under where the drivers seat is.

So 2 questions,

1) noticed my mpg figure is fairly low, lucky to get 24 mpg... and yes i do put my foot down now and again but most of the time im crusing around in 6th. Could that be to do with the exhaust?

2) do i get a KTR cat back system (my prefered choice) or have it repaired? (take a few months to save up to buy a KTR)

have a look first to see what is blowing could be the cat or even one of the manifold flexi....that will then decide what you do about an exhaust system!

could be the the pre/post cat joint not sealed right

Cheers, try and take it to a loacal garage tomorrow. Would the cat/ flexi be an expensive fix?

just fixed mine on monday, was the flexi and you hav a few options, get a second hand one from jms tunniing like i did and fit it your self, or go to your dealer and pay 1k to get it fixed, or go to a custom zorst place and get a full exhaust.

Dealer will charge big time for manifold repairs! Hopefully it's not that! second hand manifold is an option if it's blowing from there. Fitting I think is a slightly annoying job to say the least!

Hopefully it'll be a simple repair.... If it's goig to be a new cat or something I'll save up for a new performance exhaust.

you will find its the flexi pipes, lol.

Right then, just took it to a garage, and the guy said it doesn't seem to be blowing just the middle pipe/box seems a bit throaty? Now my only issue with this is Craig_B off here is a mate and his 197 has a nice whine at lower revs, but you can't hear mine because of my "throaty" exhaust?

What's the norm guys?

well long as its not the mid box colapsed* and there is plenty flow and no blockage, there should be no problem. chances are if the man at the garage said its ok, then it is, but if your still in dout go to your local dealer and ask to compare it with a couple of theres and you will easy tell if somthing is amiss,

Chhers again mate, most probs just me being paranoid as i dont want anything to be wrong with my car after having it a month lol
